Family Guidance Centers, Inc. (FGC) is a not-for-profit behavioral healthcare organization that treats and prevents substance use as well as an array of other related issues. Founded in 1969, FGC's comprehensive programming and services meet people where they're at. We work collaboratively with patients on their treatment plans to ensure that recovery is possible. FGC recognizes that substance use is complex and heavily impacts families and communities, alike. Prioritizing a whole-person approach to treatment is integral to services that are compassionate, innovative and accountable. Along with behavioral health services, FGC conducts outreach and access to care to communities that are most impacted by the opioid crisis. Congratulations to Dr. Maria Bruni, recipient of this year's George Schwab Distinguished Service Award! This award recognizes an individual who has provided the greatest service to the Association in a given year. The award is given in memory of George Schwab, President of IADDA (currently IABH) from 1979-1980, who symbolized the sacrifice and commitment of professionals in the field. Nominees should be individuals who have made significant personal contributions to IABH and to the behavioral healthcare field. Nominees should be people who have contributed leadership and expertise in the development of public policy. Dr. Bruni has demonstrated leadership across the State on public policy within the behavioral health field. Since joining IABH, Dr. Bruni has served on the Board of Directors and sits on its Executive Committee. She is also Co-Chair the IABH Public Policy Committee.
