Great news for Manhattan, IL! The Village of Manhattan has secured a $100,000 grant from the Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program to create a comprehensive safety plan for U.S. Route 52. This major vehicular and freight corridor runs right through Downtown Manhattan, a hub of bicycle and foot traffic. With support from the Farnsworth Group, the Village of Manhattan applied for a Safe Streets and Roads for All grant totaling $100,000 in federal funds. This Planning and Demonstration grant will fund the development of a comprehensive corridor safety plan for U.S. Route 52 within the Village. This plan is designed to enhance the ongoing Safety Action Plans being developed by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) for six counties in northeastern Illinois, including Will County where the Village is situated. The resulting plan will address all components of the program’s Action Plan, providing detailed strategies to reduce crashes by managing vehicle speeds and the impact of heavy vehicles on U.S. Route 52, which runs through the Village. “We’re committed to ensuring that all residents and visitors can move freely and safely throughout our village,” said Mayor Mike Adrieansen. “Thank you to Farnsworth Group for their ongoing assistance in advancing and securing the safety of our downtown plan." #SafeStreets #TrafficSafety #Infrastructure #CommunitySafety
