Our youngest employee, JD attended a Purdue Extension UAV workshop held earlier this month. This workshop introduced him to various types of drones and their applications in agriculture and crop management. It also helped prepare him to take his Part 107 examination. To become part 107 certified, you have to be at least 16 years old and pass the initial aeronautical knowledge exam “Unmanned Aircraft General- Small (UAG)”.

Meet Ella, our Natural Resources Intern for the Fall 2024 semester! Here is what Ella had to say about her experience studying and working in wildlife conservation. "My name is Ella Gerace and I am a third-year student at the University of Florida studying wildlife and ecology conservation with a minor in communications. I am from Jupiter, FL and living by the beach fostered my passion for marine conservation. In my future career I would love to combine my passions for marine ecosystems and environmental education. I believe that scientific communication and education is an essential step for conserving our natural environments and showcasing their importance to the public. I also love traveling and learning about new cultures. I hope to be able to work in conservation at the global scale. With my time at the University of Florida I have tried to get as much experience as I can in multiple aspects of the field, and I have loved it all. I am involved in The Wildlife Society as well as serving on the executive board for the professional agricultural sorority, Sigma Alpha. I am happy to have found a career field that I am truly excited to be doing. Outside of school I try to spend as much time outdoors as I can. I love hiking, surfing, freediving, and running. I am very excited for the opportunity to work as the fall 2024 Natural Resources Intern with Fauna!" We can't wait to see what she accomplishes this semester!
