Helping restore hope to survivors of sexual assault and empowering students to be the change in their communities

About us

Founded in 2011, Fear 2 Freedom (F2F) is a 501(c)(3) global, non-profit founded by Rosemary Trible with a mission of helping restore hope and dignity to survivors of sexual assault while empowering students and communities to combat sexual violence. F2F provides students with innovative, educational programs that are service-oriented in an effort to end sexual assault. These unique events teach students how to openly address sexual violence in their community and to support survivors through interactive activities. Our signature Hour 2 Empower event allows students and community partners to come together to assemble F2F AfterCare Kits and iCare Kits. These thoughtfully packed kits are given to victims of sexual assault who endure the hospital PERK (physical evidence recovery kit) exam. During this exam, sexual assault victims’ personal belongings and clothing are often collected as evidence. Our F2F kits give a "gift of hope" to these survivors, preserving their dignity and providing basic needs like clothes and toiletries. To date, more than 26,000 F2F Kits have been distributed.

Congrats Virginia Wesleyan University on hosting a great 1st time Hour 2 Empower program! After F2F’s presentation on intimate partner violence, students watched a powerful film on human trafficking and engaged in a Q&A with Freekind. Afterwards students put all that learning into action by packing F2F Kits and writing notes to the survivors Freekind serves. Thank you VWU for your work on bringing together such a collaborative, impactful event.

Thank you, Christopher Newport University for inviting F2F to the CNU Discover and Serve Fair! Our team had an amazing time connecting with fellow nonprofits and local small businesses. The CNU students were incredibly engaged as they visited each table, and we’re especially grateful to those who signed up for our volunteer list and will be joining us in the future! #CNUDiscoverAndServe #ThankYouCNU #CommunityEngagement #GetInvolved #F2F

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM)—a time for everyone to unite in the fight against domestic violence. F2F joins other victim advocates, loved ones, supporters, and political leaders to uplift and listen to survivors. Let’s take this opportunity to educate ourselves about the various types of abuse—physical, emotional, sexual, financial, and digital—so we can better support those who may be struggling in silence. Remember, choosing whether to leave an abusive relationship is a personal decision, and survivors need trusted allies as they navigate this often complicated and emotional journey. Together, we can enhance awareness and work toward ending abuse for good this October. #DVAM2024 #EndDomesticViolence #SupportSurvivors #AwarenessMatters #F2F

In honor of World Gratitude Day (9/21), we want to share some self-care tips related to gratitude. It’s easy to forget to express gratitude for those around us, but taking the time to do so can truly make the world a better place. Moving forward, let’s pause each day to reflect on the positives in our lives. What are you grateful for? Remember, small acts of kindness should be a regular practice; they lead to greater happiness and inner peace. Gratitude isn’t just a virtue; it’s the foundation for thriving relationships and communities. When we express appreciation, we uplift ourselves and those around us. Let’s commit to sharing our gratitude every day! Your world is what you make of it—fill it with kindness and positivity. #WorldGratitudeDay2024 #ExpressGratitude #KindnessMatters #F2F #ThankYou

Thank you Sweet Briar College! We had an amazing time on your beautiful campus hosting an Hour 2 Empower. Students first learned about sexual violence and then packed 200 kits to support survivors both on their campus and through local partners. The Forensic Nurses at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital received 100 AfterCare Kits, and the YWCA of Central Virginia received 80 iCare Kits, with both organizations often collaborating to support survivors throughout the region. We are beyond excited to see our relationship with Sweet Briar College grow!

Don’t allow language or disability barriers to prevent you from intervening in problematic situations or offering support to someone. Making the effort to learn some essential signs, reaching out in writing or through apps, or taking the time to listen to Deaf survivors can help change the course of their journey. We all have a part to play in bridging gaps between the Deaf and hearing community so that together we can ensure support for ALL survivors. #ASL #Deaf #SupportSurvivors
