We continue to be impressed with the way Marshall has pulled together in the wake of Hurricane Helene. The outpouring of support, the way our team and neighbors are showing up for each other, and the volunteers coming from all over - it’s been incredible to see. This community’s resilience and willingness to help, no matter the challenge, reminds us just how strong we are when we come together. Downtown is a testament to this collective effort. It's astonishing to see how organized the operation has become and how much progress has been made. Most of the buildings have already been mucked out, though there’s still plenty of work to be done for anyone eager to pitch in. Some buildings are being pressure washed as we speak, giving a glimpse of what downtown will look like as the cleanup continues. For those wanting to join us in volunteering, simply park at CHC and walk over to Nanostead, or park at Ingles and catch a shuttle to Nanostead. Once there, you'll find all the tools, PPE, food, and drinks you need to help out. You can then take a shuttle directly downtown to join the efforts. Recently, more volunteers have been wearing respirators, and about half are also wearing Tyvek suits. Most everyone is wearing at least a mask, as the mud has dried out, creating more dust in the air. Thankfully, a water truck is regularly wetting the road to keep the dust down. Nanostead has free supplies for volunteers: gloves, boots, masks, and more. After you're done, hop back on a shuttle to Nanostead to clean up, and enjoy a free meal from the food truck (donations are appreciated, but not required). Downtown Marshall now has cell phone reception, along with portajohns and a well-stocked station with coffee, cold drinks, PPE, equipment, and first aid. If you’re looking to contribute in other ways, Nanostead also keeps an updated list of donation needs. You can see a list of the needs this week below. A sincere thank you to everyone who has pitched in to bring resources (& hope) back to our community. We see you.

A message from our CEO in the wake of Hurricane Helene.

    CEO FedUp Foods

To my community near and far – I’m asking for your help and support. I come to you today with a heavy heart, as our community in Western North Carolina faces unimaginable loss in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. This 1-in-500-year flood has devastated our hometown of Marshall, NC, where FedUp Foods is based. Our beloved community is in crisis, with lives and livelihoods swept away, homes and buildings destroyed, and essential services disrupted – the full extent of what’s been lost is being revealed as the waters recede. We are relieved and grateful to share that our team and their families are safe and accounted for, and we’re now focused on mobilizing swiftly to ensure their immediate needs—water, food, and shelter—are met. Many face losses, from damaged homes to destroyed property, and are in need of direct relief as they begin the long journey to rebuild. In times like this, it can be hard to know how to help. We have established a donation page to raise funds that will be dedicated entirely to supporting the needs of our team members and the community. While we’re doing everything we can, the need is great, and we can’t do it alone. Your contribution will provide housing assistance, help repair damaged homes and property, and replace essential items so our team can get back on their feet. Additional funds will go to local organizations committed to rebuilding Marshall. The need is enormous, and every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. We know that this recovery will be a marathon, not a sprint. Our region will need help for months, if not years, to come. But if there’s one thing I know, it’s that this community is resilient. Even while facing their own losses, our team has been out on the ground—clearing debris, delivering supplies, and helping restore whatever they can. That’s the spirit that will carry us through this tragedy. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone who has reached out to me, offered help, and stood with us during this devastating time. We will come out on the other side of this stronger – together. Let's talk: Prebiotic Soda Trends! The rapid rise of prebiotic sodas on the shelves can be attributed to a confluence of factors that tap into current consumer trends: 1️⃣ Functional Beverage: Consumers are increasingly drawn to beverages that offer health benefits beyond simple hydration. Prebiotic sodas position themselves as a healthier alternative to sugary sodas, promising gut health support alongside a familiar effervescent experience. 2️⃣ Gut Health Awareness: Public awareness of the gut microbiome and its link to overall health is on the rise. Prebiotic sodas capitalize on this by offering a convenient way to potentially improve gut health through prebiotic fiber. 3️⃣ Sugar Reduction: Many consumers are actively seeking ways to reduce their sugar intake. Prebiotic sodas often boast lower sugar content compared to traditional sodas, appealing to health-conscious consumers. 4️⃣ Natural Ingredients: The use of natural prebiotic sources like chicory root, inulin, and apple cider vinegar resonates with consumers who value natural and minimally processed products. Wow – what a fun and energizing Team Appreciation Week! We are grateful to have had a chance to connect with each other, enjoy some delicious food, and savor some sweet treats. This week was a blast, with highlights like a cozy Pajama Party, a playful Dress Like Your Pet day, and a nostalgic 2008-themed Sweet 16 celebration, marking 16 years of shared success. The past few days reminded us once again of how lucky we are to work alongside such an incredible team. The energy, dedication, and heart each member brings makes FedUp Foods feel like more than just a workplace – it’s a community of people who truly care. We know that success is never about one person or one department, but about the collective effort of everyone working toward something bigger, together. #teamappreciationweek #tmaw #gratitude #weloveourteam
