WHAT A MORNING IT'S BEEN! Good Morning America came all the way to Florida to cover one of Feeding Tampa Bay's hot food distribution sites this morning, showcasing the impact our service provides to our neighbors in need post #hurricanemilton and #hurricanehelene. Today, our team served breakfast to 450 seniors who were without power for 8 days following the storms, and in response, we were graciously donated $300,000 from Abbott and the Good Morning America team to keep providing disaster relief efforts to our community! We are beyond grateful for all of the partners helping in our recovery efforts, and for Good Morning America for helping us spread the story of our relief work!💙

We have a new building that helps us serve more. We have a lot of trucks and other vehicles to move resources, too. But, sometimes that's not enough. Sometimes it's the humans who are dedicated to the work. An apartment building for seniors is still without power. Our team hauled water and food up 7 floors to make sure the most vulnerable were served.

“I’ve been through three hurricanes and it’s never got higher than knee deep, but this time it really came up.” Kirk lived in his Hudson home for 18 years before it was quickly flooded during #hurricanehelene. He was rescued mid-storm by the local Sheriff, and is grateful to have received a bed, clothes, and hot meals at a Pasco County hurricane shelter while he recovers post storm. It's stories like his that make us proud to be able to provide our community with recovery support. We are so happy to help Tampa Bay with relief efforts, feeding resilience to our neighbors in their time of greatest need.

🚨 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED 🚨 Feeding Tampa Bay has so far provided a total of 1,362,162 disaster meals through 90 distribution sites across Tampa Bay's #hurricanemilton and #hurricanehelene impacted areas. To make all of this happen, we've also had help from 2,700 volunteers who have provided us 4,759 hours of service helping the community recover! We are so grateful for all of the support our volunteers are providing, but we STILL NEED HELP! Despite Manatee County being heavily impacted, and still in need, we are struggling for volunteers, making it difficult to provide distribution efforts in this area. We'd love some community support to help us give hurricane relief to Manatee County! 💙 If you can help today, please sign up for a shift by visiting our website > https://lnkd.in/gr5xwJ-Z

Since #hurricanemilton struck the Tampa Bay region, our Causeway Center location has developed into a staging post for American Red Cross as a basecamp to help neighbors affected by the storm recover. In partnership with the Tampa Bay area Emergency Operations Centers, we work directly with local emergency management operations to provide food, water, and hygiene items to our service area, state, and neighboring states during crisis situations. We also now have the opportunity to host American Red Cross, providing a space for them to support our Tampa Bay residents as we work together to provide our region with recovery assistance. Thank you American Red Cross for supporting the many residents displaced by the storms. 💙
