About us

FEMA Region 3 supports the communities and tribes in the mid-Atlantic states of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia, helping others before, during, and after disasters. The regional population ranges from densely urban in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia to sparsely rural in the hills and valleys of West Virginia. The region is rich in history, with four of the original 13 colonies and the nation's capital. FEMA Region III's mission is to oversee and coordinate FEMA’s all-hazards preparedness and emergency management efforts in our jurisdiction. This includes: - Managing disaster response and recovery operations - Reducing risk from disasters through mitigation efforts - Ensuring regional readiness for disasters through planning and exercises with federal, state and local partners.
