Reserve Labs is a newly revitalized life science campus surrounded by pristine views of the Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve. The three-building campus provides various sizes of lab-office suites and an amenities courtyard with a covered deck and display screen for outdoor meetings. FPBA worked with Longfellow Real Estate Partners, Coffman Engineers, GroundLevel Landscape Architecture, H+W Engineering, Inc. and C2 Building Group to carry out the campus refresh in multiple phases. FPBA enjoyed attending ISPE's Facilities of the Future Conference, represented by President Jim Ferguson. The highlights were the engaging tour of Genentech's South San Francisco (SSF) Clinical Supply Center (CSC), as well as Christian Randecker's enthralling presentation on Design Philosophy Tensions for Genentech's New Clinical Supply Center. After the 2024 ISPE Facilities of the Future Conference, Genentech welcomed a group for a facility tour. This facility was recently named the 2023 Facility of the Year (FOYA) Pharma 4.0 Category Award and FOYA Overall Winner. Attendees got to tour Genentech’s South San Francisco (SSF) Clinical Supply Center (CSC), which leverages highly advanced manufacturing technologies and employs an agile modular design to speed the on-demand delivery of their investigational medicine pipeline to patients in clinical trials. #ISPE #ISPEFoF #Genentech #pharmafacility #pharmadesign

Very exciting to see the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance recognized for its expertise and dedication to wildlife conservation! The SDZWA is partnering with the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) to form a new Center for Species Survival focused on biodiversity banking. The collaboration will involve developing best practices, maximizing genetic diversity preservation, and training partners in the establishment and expansion of biobanks. The SDZWA is already well known for their work in biodiversity banking, including the Frozen Zoo, a collection of more than 10,900 living samples of nearly 1,250 species. The Frozen Zoo resides in the Beckman Center for Conservation Research, a LEED Silver facility designed by FPBA that opened in 2004. Two endangered species—the black-footed ferret and Przewalski's horse—have already been successfully cloned thanks to the Frozen Zoo. We can't wait to see what comes next!
