As a minority and immigrant, she faced challenges breaking into the space industry despite her impressive PhD in Mechanical Engineering. This experience fueled her passion for removing barriers and led her to co-found the Global Space Industry Trade Association (GSITA), promoting workforce development for underrepresented communities in space exploration. At Ferrotec, Columbia leads the Thermal Division's engineering team, driving innovation with her 18 years of experience and six patents in thermal architecture and electronic systems. Leadership and Inspiration: Columbia's impact transcends the workplace. She actively mentors first-generation students and early-career engineers, empowering them to pursue their dreams in STEM fields. Her dedication extends to organizations like American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Space & Satellite Professionals International (SSPI). She is a Distinguished alumni of the Mechanical Engineering Department at The University of Texas at Austin (UT Austin), an ASME Fellow and serves on the board of directors for the ASME Foundation.
