Back when the COVID-19 pandemic unexpectedly forced many of us into remote work settings, some workers discovered focus, motivation, and serenity that may have been previously lacking. Others, however, found their remote work status to be isolating, especially when teammates were hundreds or even thousands of miles away.  Nearly five years later, many employees are still working from home — either by choice or necessity — and sometimes virtually alongside in-office teammates. Employees at FCS have experienced both sides of the coin and can serve as a case study that inspires teams to “remove” the distance by incorporating team bonding and training initiatives into the daily workflow. Our Air Quality (AQ) team shares their collaborative approach to building relationships and trust while navigating the virtual workplace in our latest article by Senior Air Quality Scientist Tsui Li: #remotework #teambonding #virtualworkplace

FCS celebrates the life of Martin Rasnick. Martin was a brilliant biologist, a compassionate leader, and an advocate for doing impactful work. As an Associate Director at FCS, he was hardworking, thoughtful, deliberate, and kind. Whether educating our teams about mitigation banking, telling a story about his beloved dog, talking with pride about our growing Natural Resources team, or reminiscing about trips to South America, time with Martin was time well-spent. We will take the opportunity today and every day to learn from the examples he set and honor his legacy with the highest regard.

“With 20% of EV drivers unable to charge at home, the burden on public charging infrastructure intensifies.” The rapid rise in #EV sales in the U.S. has created an urgent demand for EV charging #infrastructure, which is essential to support the growing number of EVs on the road. As the EV industry expands, “range anxiety” remains one of the key barriers to widespread adoption. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/gPrVBQBN?

Burrowing owls, currently considered a California Species of Special Concern and a federal Bird of Conservation Concern, are inhabitants of open grassland and desert scrub communities that are occasionally present on project sites in California. Mitigation and management of burrowing owls is guided mainly by recommendations in the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (2012) Staff Report on Burrowing Owl Mitigation. However, the species may soon become listed under the California Endangered Species Act, which could bring big changes to the way burrowing owls are managed on project sites.  Our latest article by Principal Biologist Michael Tuma discusses the current approaches and impending changes of burrowing owl mitigation on project sites: #burrowingowls #conservation #endangeredspecies
