To say that *a lot* goes into presenting a spectacle like eVenti Verticali at PVDFest would be an understatement! Curation, fundraising, partnerships, marketing, production, and yes, engineering - a million little pieces coming together behind the scenes to provide our audiences indelible experiences!
Italy’s eVenti Verticali took to the skies at Providence, Rhode Island’s iconic outdoor arts #festival, PVDFest, in a breathtaking aerial spectacle. Hosted by the City’s Department of Art, Culture & Tourism in collaboration with FirstWorks, the event featured a mesmerizing performance on and around a massive inflatable sphere, suspended by a crane high above Kennedy Plaza. Seven aerialists defied gravity as they spun, twisted, and floated through the air utilizing ropes and aerial rings—one perched atop the sphere, another hanging below, one inside, and four others suspended from a cross-shaped truss structure. The performance was conducted over 20’ feet above the ground and the apparatus also rotated while performers enthralled audiences from above. McLaren conducted a full #StructuralAnalysis of the aerial apparatus up to the crane hook, evaluating the structure for conformance to performer flying standards. All structural and #rigging components below the hook were evaluated.
