As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we're proud to spotlight our remarkable Hispanic faculty 🌟, like Jose A. Faria from the Moss Department of Construction Management, whose heritage and experiences have uniquely shaped their journeys in engineering and computing. ❓ How has your Hispanic heritage influenced your journey and perspective in the field of engineering and computing? In Venezuela, my country, the traditional careers were medicine, law, and engineering. I was 100% sure I did not want to be a medical doctor, and I was not very interested in being a lawyer, so I found my passion in engineering. Since my father had a construction company, civil engineering seemed like a great fit for me. However, while going through the curriculum I leaned towards the management aspect and decided to pursue Industrial Engineering instead. ❓ If you could engineer or code one magical invention inspired by your heritage, what would it be? I would like to make a drone that can fly two people over the Salto Angel 🙂! Salto Angel, Thundering Angel Falls is the world's highest waterfall and one of Venezuela's tourist attractions.
