As hybrid threats escalate across cyber and physical domains, the intelligence community faces a critical challenge: how do we ensure that open-source intelligence (#OSINT) remains professional, ethical, and legally defensible? In his latest byline for Federal News Network, Flashpoint’s Executive Director of Global Security, Andrew Borene, introduces Pro-SINT, a concept that raises the standard for professional intelligence collection. “Pro-SINT is open-source intelligence professionally derived from both publicly available information and commercially available information. Pro-SINT is distinct from several differing official and unofficial definitions of the term OSINT as used by governments and a more commonly understood general use of the term. Pro-SINT is a subset of the broadest possible definition of OSINT.” Read the byline to learn more about: 🔸 The importance of distinguishing between Pro-SINT and general OSINT in both national security and corporate circles. 🔸 How Pro-SINT helps address complex hybrid threats from nation-states and rogue cyber actors. 🔸 Why professionalism, ethics, and legal defensibility are essential in today’s intelligence collection. 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eiUxj5ic #ProSINT #ThreatIntelligence

As FS-ISAC approaches, financial institutions are facing mounting pressure to defend against increasingly sophisticated and converging threats. 📈 In 2024: 🔸 Vulnerabilities have surged by 11%, and over 45% of vulnerabilities disclosed are rated high to critical, requiring prioritization that goes beyond simple patching. 🔸 The convergence of cyber, physical, and geopolitical threats has made it increasingly difficult for financial institutions to predict and mitigate risks. 🔸 Infostealers have infected over 13 million devices, putting sensitive financial data at risk. As a result, financial institutions can’t afford to rely on reactive measures alone. Flashpoint delivers real-time, actionable intelligence to help teams in the financial sector reduce exposure, protect critical assets, and safeguard client trust. At FS-ISAC booth #48, we’ll demonstrate how our award winning threat intelligence platform can provide the visibility and context your team needs to stay ahead of emerging threats—from vulnerabilities to insider risks and beyond. Let’s discuss how we can support your security goals. Schedule a meeting with us: https://lnkd.in/eW62WEZS #FSISAC #ThreatIntelligence #FinancialSecurity
