MILTON OPERATIONAL UPDATE Hurricane Milton has intensified into a dangerous storm, and is anticipated to make landfall as a major hurricane in the early evening on Wednesday, October 9 around the Tampa Bay area. Hurricane warnings extend from the Big Bend area south to Naples, and inland to the eastern Central Florida area. Residents and businesses within the path of Milton are encouraged to make preparations now. At this time, we do not anticipate the Florida Housing Coalition’s offices to close, and the SHIP Hotline will remain in operation. However, as many of our staff are spread throughout the state, employees along the west coast and throughout Central Florida may not be available. If you are attempting to reach a specific Coalition employee, and their voicemail or email indicates they are unavailable due to the storm, please contact the Florida Housing Coalition’s main office at (850) 878-4219 or via email at info@flhousing.org. Hurricane Helene is expected to quickly strengthen over the next 24 hours, becoming a major Hurricane. It is anticipated that the storm will begin to impact areas of the Western Florida coast beginning Thursday morning. It is anticipated that the storm will make landfall somewhere along the Big Bend area of Florida’s west coast Thursday evening. Due to the anticipated impact, the Florida Housing Coalition will close at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, September 25 for the duration of the storm. This closure includes the SHIP Hotline. We will make every attempt to resume normal operations on Monday, September 30, 2024. We will continue to provide updates as the situation evolves, and encourage every to consult their local officials for additional information and guidance.
