🌱 Flourishing at college! 🌱
Over the past year, we’ve made tremendous strides on building AI for student well-being:
🚀 Engaged with over 1,000 students across 12 universities and colleges
🚀 Iterated the Flourish app through 6 major versions
🚀 Completed 2 randomized controlled trials, observing meaningful improvements in student well-being in both studies
🚀 Received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, faculty, counseling centers, wellness offices, athletics departments, and even a career center!
🚀 Achieved a remarkable 85% monthly retention rate
With that, we're excited to share that Flourish Science has developed a science-based, AI-powered, and proactive solution to support college mental health and well-being, addressing a critical issue facing the 20 million college students in the US—and many more around the world!

🌱 Our secret weapons 🌱
1. Giving talks and workshops
In the past year, we’ve delivered over 12 on student well-being in the age of AI at:
- universities like Stanford, Harvard, UPenn, Brown, UW, UChicago, Chapman, and SFSU,
- liberal arts colleges like Providence College, and
- community colleges like Foothill, De Anza, and the San Mateo Community College District.
Through these experiences, we’ve learned what excites and concerns students and admin about AI for mental wellness.
Time and again, we’ve seen our thoughtful approach and the STAR framework (Science-based, Timely, Action-oriented, Real-life-focused) turn skeptics into enthusiastic supporters. Higher ed leaders and counselors have praised Flourish as an evidence-based, approachable, and empowering product that complements and empowers their initiatives and aspirations.
With this growing momentum, we’re thrilled to partner with more institutions to expand our impact!
2. Partnering with psychology faculty
Completing two RCTs in our first year was a near-impossible feat made possible by the dedication of our faculty collaborators. They supported us in designing the Flourish Challenge, securing IRB approvals, providing product feedback, and motivating students to participate in research and experiential learning.
We’re proud to present our recent research at the Society of Personality and Social Psychology (SPSP)—the biggest international conference for social psychology—this February in a symposium on LLM and well-being, as well as at the international Happiness and Well-Being Preconference. We look forward to connecting with faculty who share our passion for solving the last-mile problem of translating science into practice!
🌱 What’s next? 🌱
Last week, we had a blast introducing Flourish at the NASPA Strategies Conference in Boston, and the reception was overwhelmingly positive! Stay tuned for stories and photos in my next post.
