Transforming the way goods move

About us

Zipline was founded to create the first logistics system that serves all humans equally. Our aim is to solve the world’s most urgent and complex access challenges. Leveraging expertise in robotics and autonomy, Zipline designs, manufactures and operates the world’s largest automated delivery system. Zipline serves tens of millions of people around the world and is making good on the promise of building an equitable and more resilient global supply chain. From powering Rwanda’s national blood delivery network and Ghana’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution, to providing on-demand home delivery for Walmart and enabling leading healthcare providers to bring care into the home in the United States, Zipline is transforming the way goods move. By transitioning to clean, electric, instant logistics, we can decarbonize delivery, decrease road congestion, and reduce fossil fuel consumption and air pollution, while providing equitable access for billions of people. The technology is complex but the idea is simple: a teleportation service that delivers what you need, when you need it. Zipline is inspiring people, governments, and businesses to imagine what is possible when goods can move as seamlessly as information. Over the past decade, global maternal mortality has remained unacceptably high, with around 287,000 women dying in childbirth in 2020 and 2.3 million newborn deaths in 2022. In Nigeria—where maternal mortality remains among the highest globally—delays in delivering essential medicines, blood, and vaccines put millions at risk. This Women’s Month, we recognize that health equity is women’s equity. No woman should lose her life bringing another into the world. Government Leadership Driving Change In Cross River and Bayelsa States, the government is setting a new standard. Through an integrated care program aimed at improving health outcomes for hundreds of thousands of zero-dose and under-immunized children and their families, Zipline, in partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and The ELMA Philanthropies, is ensuring that no child is left unvaccinated, and no mother is left without care. How Zipline Strengthens Supply Chains to Support Maternal & Newborn Health 🏥 Zero Stockouts: Ensuring clinics never run out of critical supplies—eliminating missed opportunities to treat and fostering trust in the health system. 🚀 Instant Logistics: Enabling rapid, equitable delivery of essential supplies, including temperature-sensitive commodities like oxytocin, even in infrastructure-light settings. 🤝 Direct Supply to Community Health Workers (CHWs): Equipping CHWs with the resources needed to deliver timely maternal and newborn care. 🩸 Rapid Blood Delivery: Providing instant access to life-saving blood for maternal emergencies—eliminating delays, and reducing waste. 💡 Integrated Care: Bundling primary health care items like Vitamin A, deworming treatments, and family planning products with vaccines to target multiple conditions at once. Proven Impact 🔴 Reduced Maternal Mortality: 51% reduction in in-hospital maternal mortality due to postpartum hemorrhage in Rwanda. 💉 Increased Vaccination Rates: 21 percentage point average increase in vaccine coverage. 🏥 Improved Healthcare Utilization: Reduced stockouts led to more antenatal visits(+19.9%), facility births (+25%), and lower maternal deaths (-56.4%) in Ghana. 👩⚕️ Local Capacity Building: 500+ CHWs equipped and empowered to offer vaccination and primary healthcare services. Advancing Maternal Health Together Our next frontier in maternal health is partnering with Nigerian governments to revolutionize their blood system—centralizing supply and enabling on-demand delivery to dramatically reduce maternal deaths. As we continue this vital work, we’d love to see Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and the Gates Foundation join ELMA in strengthening integrated care in Nigeria. Together, we can ensure more mothers and newborns receive the life-saving care they deserve. 🔴Song, H. (2022). Leapfrogging Last-Mile Delivery. 💉Vaccine Journal. Vaccines save lives—but only if they reach people in time. In partnership with Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and Ministries of Health, Zipline has delivered 21M+ lifesaving vaccine doses to underserved communities in minutes, not days—closing access gaps, reducing waste, and protecting more lives. With continued support, Gavi can help us reach more people, fight more diseases, and build a healthier future for all. #ForOurFuture #VaccinesWork #HumanlyPossible

This is the story of an innovation that enables life-saving vaccine deliveries to those who need them most. In Rwanda, where 82% of the population lives in rural areas, some communities are many miles away from where vaccines are stored. But with a national drone delivery service, health care workers can order—and receive—life-saving vaccines in minutes. This feat was made possible thanks to the leadership of Rwanda’s Ministry of Health, Gavi, and other partners. Watch how these tiny, gravity-defying steps are reshaping global health.

At Zipline, we prioritize data-driven approaches to build on successes and push the boundaries of what’s possible. Thankfully, there are others who do too! We’ve received a grant—recommended by GiveWell and funded by Open Philanthropy—to run a six-month study to assess how our drone logistics system can improve vaccine access in areas with limited health infrastructure. Our research will delve into: ✅ Overcoming cold chain constraints to enable the setup of remote vaccination sites. ✅ Leveraging the speed and flexibility of aerial logistics to bypass traditional supply chain delays. ✅ Preventing stockouts with proactive, real-time supply management. ✅ Bundling distribution of essential medicines with vaccines to improve overall healthcare. We’re excited to collaborate with GiveWell in their mission to test innovative immunization interventions for communities at higher risk of child mortality.  🤝💉 Learn more about how we're charting a new course for vaccine delivery: https://lnkd.in/dyew5N5q #VaccineDelivery #HealthcareInnovation #DroneLogistics #PublicHealth #GlobalHealth #DataDriven #GiveWell #OpenPhilanthropy #Zipline

Huge milestone: we have now safely flown 100 MILLION autonomous miles. These miles were earned from over 1.4 million deliveries to real customers, getting things like medical supplies and groceries to people faster, even creating access to places roads can’t go. 100 million autonomous miles is the same as flying 4,000 trips around Earth — all without a pilot, but we didn't make our video without one. Thank you, Ben Morris, former Royal Air Force Officer and Operational Leader at Zipline, for lending us your voice.

With global health funding under strain, governments are struggling to ensure consistent access to life-saving malaria interventions. Disrupted supply chains risk delaying essential medicines, diagnostics, and vaccines—leaving vulnerable communities unprotected. In Sub-Saharan Africa, where malaria accounts for over 90% of global cases and claims nearly 400,000 lives annually, the stakes couldn't be higher. “Early diagnosis and treatment of malaria reduces disease, prevents deaths and contributes to reducing transmission.” – WHO A Call to Action for Ghana and Beyond In Ghana, government leadership is setting a new standard, and their commitment to building a self-sufficient, resilient healthcare system is paying off. Zipline is stepping in to distribute medical supplies that previously relied on USAID support. By leveraging our on-demand delivery network, Ghana is ensuring that malaria medications reach vulnerable populations quickly and reliably—eliminating any gaps in care. How Zipline Keeps Malaria Supply Chains Strong: 🚀 Rapid Response: A Zipline drone can resupply a clinic in just 30 minutes, dramatically reducing delays compared to a 5-hour truck journey. 🏥 Centralized Efficiency: By storing medicines and vaccines centrally rather than at regional warehouses or dispersed facilities, we reduce stockouts to zero, optimize inventory allocation, and minimize losses from expired supplies. 🚚 Streamlined Logistics: Eliminating the need for road-based last-mile distribution saves money and expedites delivery, ensuring treatments are available when needed. 🌍 Expanded Access: Our system reaches previously inaccessible community-level health posts, increasing early diagnosis, improving treatment rates, and boosting overall prevention of malaria transmission. Our Proven Impact: ✅ In Ghana, our system enabled a 66% reduction in missed opportunities to treat severe malaria¹. ✅ In Bayelsa State, we’ve helped Nigeria pioneer drone-based delivery of malaria vaccines, getting over 8,900 doses into patients’ arms. These results underscore the critical role that innovation can play in boosting resilience and supporting government-led, sustainable approaches. Let’s End Malaria Together No one should suffer because a life-saving vaccine, medicine or test was out of stock. The ELMA Philanthropies, Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and the Gates Foundation—your leadership in strengthening health systems and funding groundbreaking solutions is crucial. Together, we can close the last-mile gap, and accelerate the end of malaria. #EndMalaria #HealthSystemsStrengthening #Innovation #GlobalHealth #MalariaEradication #DronesForGood ¹ Measuring Zipline’s Impact on Health Access, Availability, and Supply Chain in Ghana, IDInsight.

HIV care can’t wait. As funding tightens, Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF) and Zipline are taking action—ensuring life-saving HIV meds reach patients instantly, reliably, and sustainably with autonomous, zero-emissions drones. Beyond supporting EJAF’s mission, we’re partnering with governments to build resilient supply chains, preventing treatment disruptions that could increase transmission rates and reverse decades of progress. #EndAIDS #EJAF #Zipline #EndAIDS #HIVCare #HealthcareAccess #SupplyChainInnovation #GlobalHealth

The U.S. Administration’s abrupt decision to cut over 90% of USAID contracts could have devastating effects on the HIV response.   We are working with our 90+ partners to ensure they can continue to provide lifesaving services and are launching The Rocket Response Fund to help cover immediate gaps in essential care.   We urge the U.S. Government to continue the lifesaving work of bipartisan programs like PEPFAR. Another day, another amazing medical delivery drone system - and Zipline Rwanda did not disappoint!📍✈️ Data collection in #Rwanda has officially begun and today my research team and I toured one of Zipline’s distribution centres. This “nest” completes 350-400 drone deliveries EVERY DAY and it’s a truly surreal experience seeing the #drones take-off and return every couple of minutes. Almost every health facility in the country (outside of Kigali) receives scheduled deliveries every week and can request emergency drop-offs whenever necessary (24/7). Once an emergency order is placed, the Zipline team has it packed and launching skyward within 3-5 minutes‼️ I spent most of the day witnessing the efficiency and impact of this system in Rwanda, while also imagining the potential impact it could have on #healthequity, emergency medical services, and pandemic preparedness in so many global settings. One of my favourite learnings from today’s visit was that Zipline Rwanda also transports animal health products, like bovine and swine vaccines, to veterinarians across the country. My public health-wired brain immediately started thinking about the #OneHealth implications and capabilities for rapid response to both human and livestock outbreaks. Another amazing example of how #dronesforgood solutions can cut across multiple #SDGs at once! 🇺🇳 A huge thank you to my partners at Zipline, the University of Rwanda, and the Rwanda Biomedical Centre for supporting my research! 🇷🇼 #uas #uav #publichealth #globalhealth #innovation #pandemicpreparedness
