In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, FMC’s Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) employee resource group organized a special event in Brazil on the importance of women’s health. We were joined by Dr. Daniela Castanho, an OBGYN and specialist in Human Reproduction, who shared her insights on the topic. Partners for Environmental Progress (PEP) awarded FMC a 2024 Environmental Stewardship Award for a wastewater treatment project at our Mobile, Alabama manufacturing facility. The project will allow two-thirds of the site’s diamides process water to be treated at its on-site wastewater treatment plant, diverting 12 million pounds of waste from disposal and reducing GHG emissions by 575 metric tons of CO2 equivalents annually. “This initiative was crucial for FMC and the Mobile Site to reach our sustainability goals. We aimed to reduce hazardous waste generation by 66% and cut emissions by 575 metric tons per year – and we’re doing it,” said Brad West, EHS manager. At this year’s B20 Brasil Summit in São Paulo, with Business at OECD (BIAC), global leaders gathered to discuss “Inclusive Growth for a Sustainable Future.” Renato Guimarães, FMC vice president and president of Latin America, shared his insights on the transformative role of agritech at the “Digital Farming: Enhancing Sustainability and Regenerative Agriculture” event. Renato discussed the opportunities and challenges to scaling adoption of precision agriculture technologies in Latin America, and how innovations such as FMC’s Arc™ farm intelligence, play an important role in balancing agricultural productivity with environmental stewardship. He emphasized the importance of innovation that meets farmers’ unique needs and can be adapted to local contexts, recognizing that there is no “one size fits all” approach. Ensuring farmers across Latin America can access and leverage innovations in digital farming is essential to the future of the region’s agriculture sector and economic growth.
