Food for the Hungry’s commitment to justice is evident in our holistic approach to community development. By focusing on empowerment, equal access to resources, gender equity, and sustainable development, FH works to correct injustices and give vulnerable people the opportunity to live with dignity, hope, and self-reliance. It is our biblical call to “do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly” (Micah 6:8).

Ending Poverty, Together.
About us
Food for the Hungry is a Christian humanitarian organization ending all forms of human poverty by providing life-changing development programs, disaster relief, and advocacy. Since 1971, Food for the Hungry has been going into the world’s hardest places with an exit strategy: to respond to human suffering and graduate communities of extreme poverty into self-sustainability, all within a decade. By creating context-specific solutions in education, agriculture, health, livelihood, clean water, and disaster risk reduction, the nonprofit focuses on transformational development, investing in children as the key to lift entire communities out of poverty. With 98% of staff working in their country of origin, Food for the Hungry works side-by-side with local leaders, churches, and families to implement innovative solutions. The organization currently serves more than 10 million people in over 18 countries worldwide. For more information, follow @food4thehungry or visit www.fh.org.

A glimpse of what your sponsored child's life is like in Bangladesh: 💚 Houses are commonly rectangular and made out of mud, bamboo, or red brick with thatched roofs. Many are built on platforms to keep them above the flood line. 💚 Many meals are cooked in spicy curry sauces that incorporate cumin, coriander, cloves, cinnamon, garlic, and other spices. 💚 Primary education, which is free but not required by law, is for children 10 and under. Only about half of all children in Bangladesh attend primary school. 💚 People greet each other with, “Assalam Waleykum” (peace be with you) and respond with, “Waleykum Assalam” (and with you).

THANK YOU for walking alongside us as we work to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual hungers of the world’s most vulnerable people. Whether through prayer, sponsoring a child, giving your time/treasure/talents, or raising awareness, you all play a key role in ending extreme poverty and we couldn’t do the work we do without you!
