In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we express our deepest sympathies and support to our neighbors affected in the towns and cities we serve. The devastation, especially in Georgia, upstate South Carolina, western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee, has forever changed countless lives and communities. As part of our commitment to the towns and cities we serve, we are donating $1.5 million to support our communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. Through Oct. 30, customers can join this effort to support their neighbors by donating at the register. To help address the most critical needs, we have provided more than 280,000 pounds of food and water to our community partners. Food Lion Feeds is transforming our communities while addressing hunger one pantry at a time. Through our annual initiative, The Great Pantry Makeover, Food Lion Feeds supports our community feeding partners by providing funds and volunteering hours for capital improvement projects. Throughout September, our associates will provide more than 900 volunteer hours to transform 38 community feeding partner pantries across our 10-state operating area. This effort, which includes remodeling and stocking food pantries, also expands access to nutritious food while addressing food insecurity. Since 2015, Food Lion Feeds has renovated or supported more than 320 food pantries through The Great Pantry Makeover. Food Lion Feeds is changing the game for hunger relief through its annual Sack to Give Back program. This fall, the campaign is supporting 35 colleges and universities and helping nourish college students’ bodies and minds while addressing food insecurity. As part of our ongoing efforts to provide hunger relief, Food Lion Feeds will donate 1,000 meals (up to 30,000 meals per school) for every quarterback sack made by participating colleges and institutions.
