“..How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!“ -Psalm 133:1, Bible It was such a privilege and encouragement to spend some time with the Northwest Network of Churches (Columbus, Ohio) this past week for their kickoff of the annual ‘Love Our City’ community engagement week! (More at https://lnkd.in/gd-rj27Q) after beginning with a evening of vision and prayer for the week, they cleaned up the grounds of a local school, offered $1 to wash cars and pray with people, spent time with the elderly, and served ice cream while building relationships with hundreds of international students in partnership with International Friendships, Inc. (Columbus). All for the honor of God and the good of the community! “Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” - Jeremiah 29:7, Bible

This Thursday (8.8) come hang with Creatives from around Greater Columbus that work in the arts or entertainment, or engage in creative practice of any kind, as we create space for authentic relationships around the city. We’ll share our stories, passions, art, and explore how we might work for the flourishing of our city as we celebrate the good, the true, and the beautiful. At each gathering we connect informally, launch into group conversation around the book ‘The Father of Lights: A Theology of Beauty’, while enjoying local establishments around Greater Columbus. Please find a copy of the book (print or digital) and read Part 1, Section 2: ’The Eyes of Faith: Contuition and Spiritual Vision’ (pg. 43) for the conversation. Come anyway if you don’t. Reach out to shane [at] forcolumbus [dot] org for more info and/or to join us!

Then they find a way to get there, together. That’s what leads to changed businesses, changed churches, changed communities, and changed lives. Global Leadership Network (GLN) is a global organization passionate about inspiring and equipping leaders to transform the world for the better. For over 30 years, the Global Leadership Summit has been empowering leaders worldwide. It’s been said, “God’s Church doesn’t have a mission, God’s Mission has a Church.” In short, the LORD had a mission to rescue and redeem all Creation, beginning with humanity, before the Church (Christ’s Body) was established. The Church was birthed as a result of Jesus’ inauguration of the renewal of all things, and then He handed that mission to His Body to carry it on (Rev. 21:5, John 14:12). Last week the newly formed Soul Care (see Dallas Willard’s concept of the soul) Network met once again with numerous practitioners from various disciplines (pastoral care, psychotherapy, trauma/addiction counseling, chaplaincy, spiritual direction, etc.) who serve all over the city as we explored #Harvard Human Flourishing research and discussed the role of #prayer in our professional practice. This is a great space for making connections, learning from cross-pollination of practice, and potential referrals, etc. A big thanks to Greg Schad of Crossroads Counseling Groupfor facilitating! Last week we (Nick Nye & Shane Tucker) had the privilege of visiting one of our sister city reaching movement Love Ft. Wayne with its CEO Geoff King and also the ‘godfather’ of city movements, Eric Swanson of City Leaders Collective. It was so encouraging to join in #prayer and #worship with leaders across Ft. Wayne, Indiana, hearing about all of the good being done through their networks across the city, visiting their incredible 24/7 #prayer room PrayerWorks Fort Wayne and talking #citytransformation. The LORD is at work in spaces, places and cities all over the world, and Ft. Wayne, IN is a shining example of #JesusChrist and the #HolySpirit at work, revitalizing a city as people follow the LORD, lean into #unity, and #collaborate for Kingdom good!
