There are 3 ways to capture the most AMAZING light, that are easily overlooked. 1. Blaring sunshine is not ideal. It’s best to get some cloud cover, or shoot the golden hour - which is right when the sun comes up +1 hour, and the hour before sunset + some dreamy twilight after it goes down. 2. When shooting at night, it’s key to make your lighting look natural, meaning don’t overdo the bright lights! Also try to color-match natural night light, which is typically blue, unless you’ve got those yellow street lights overhead. 3. For indoor shots, it’s so important to make your light look natural, as if it’s spilling in from a window, or coming from a light in the room. If you can make your room bright enough, you can balance it with the light outside. Midday requires tons of brightness to match, but around the golden hours, you can go down in brightness. But be careful - golden hour light doesn’t last very long! So plan for that! #photoshootips #photographylighting #productioncompany #sandiegophotographer #photoshootideas

Can we share our favorite part of a shoot? It’s not the satisfaction of finishing all the tedious prep work. It’s not even when you hear “That’s a Wrap!”. It’s the moment that you get a perfect take that almost gives you goosebumps, and you know it’s going to resonate in the heart of your audience. Because this is what we live for. Telling stories. Specifically, storytelling that is brought to life from working with the best people and crew around. We are technical. We are strategic. And at the end of the day, at heart, we are storytellers. What an honor it is, to tell incredible stories for people, brands, and organizations on amazing missions. #storytellers #productioncompany #sandiegovideographer #adagency #photoshootlife

Major brands are turning to small creative agencies (shops with less than 100 people). Why? This article captures why big accounts keep turning to smaller, hands-on teams like ours. (It’s the same feedback we get all the time): *The lack of BS and doing away with bureaucracy *The ability to invest in innovation *Working hands-on with top talent vs. going through 3 people just to communicate Anyone else a fan of this trend?! 48 Hour Film Project - Part 3: It’s 3 am. Our short film, which we’ve just shot and named, is due in less than 8 hours. We had just gotten the picture lock and sent it to our music composer, who made tracks from scratch. Our audio mixer stepped in to clean up the Padres' pregaming sounds. (It was loud & rowdy. You can imagine). Then we started on color correction. But even being ahead of “schedule” is eluding when the final hour creeps up on ya, and it’s time to render, export, and start that final upload! At a certain point, you must hit export and pray there are no glitches or malfunctioning clips, cuz whether you like it or not, it’s time! Luckily, we managed to turn our film in with time to spare. With adrenaline still racing, we all raised our glasses to celebrate and watch the final edit once more before crashing out! You may be wondering: “What happens next”? Well, the film makes its premiere at Regal Edwards Mira Mesa (San Diego) on August 7th, along with all the other films in our screening group. From there, the audience will vote for their favorite, so we’ll have a chance to win Audience Choice. After that, all the films that were turned in on time will be reviewed by a panel of judges. The lucky winners will go on to the “Best Of” Awards Gala, which is a big, grandiose, fancy red carpet affair, and our fingers are crossed to make it there! Wish us luck!! 🍀 Want to join us for that amazing premier night? We hope so. You can purchase tickets here: https://lnkd.in/gdprZfm6 48 Hour Film Project #48hourfilmproject #productioncompany

48 Hour Film Project - Part 2: It’s Saturday, butt crack of dawn. Camera speeding… or wait, is it? We have to do a little cat herding, getting all of our lovely volunteer cast and crew to the same place, at the same time, to get things rolling. Finally, we are all set up and now we are shooting. The space is amazing. We’re in the zone that hits only as movie magic does, when we realize time is flying faster with each scene. Filming on a huge campus like UCSD doesn’t help the mobility factor. So we huck the gear over to the next location and pick up the pace. Then, like any good plot, a big roadblock hits: There’s a Padres game happening and our next location is smack dab one block from good ole Petco Park. This is where good teamwork comes into play. Our amazing crew was standing by to pick up cars from the director, DP, and talent, only to relocate them to safe parking so we could jump straight into shooting. After a couple more hours, we had shot everything we needed to. We even came up with a new ending to our film… on the fly! That’s just how you roll on a 48! What we love about the 48 Hour Film Project is that ALL of the creativity is happening in the moment. Sometimes your story doesn’t even make sense until you’ve finished editing it because you’re coming up with new pieces of the story all along. Thus, with our martini shot (last shot of the day) we finally have the name of our film and we are racing off to the edit bays. There, we’ve got 5 editors all divvying up scenes to cut. By midnight we had strung together a rough cut and we were just about ready to picture lock. Some editors had fallen asleep on the couch, some were being sent home to catch some z’s, but two remained to carry the torch through the night - the director (Aly) and lead editor (Katie). To be continued…(PART 3, OUR FINAL CHAPTER - LANDING IN OUR NEXT POST!) 48 Hour Film Project #48hourfilmproject #productioncompany

Every year, there is ONE weekend we look forward to the most, the weekend we don't sleep a wink! Let me introduce - The 48 Hour Film Project: a competition that allows us to step outside our script-locked, meticulously planned productions in place of the quickest turnaround with complete creative rein... Well, almost. In this experience, production teams are each handed a genre, prop, line of dialogue, and character. Each team must use these, then turn around and make a film out of it. Oh yeah, and did I mention, that you only get 48 hours to make your film? Yep. So needless to say, we didn't sleep. 😴 Not a wink. And not just in the 48 hours, we even found ourselves sleepless leading up to it. The energy and excitement about making a film that you know nothing about is riveting. Friday, the kick-off was set to begin. The first mic dropped: WHAT GENRE DID WE GET? … "Fish out of water" -OR- "Food Film". We decided not to choose. We did BOTH. And get this, the character that all teams, regardless of genre, have to use is a "Competitive Eater". Thanks karma. Thus begins our story development, we pow-wowed with the team who came to the kickoff, ideas flying left and right, inspiring new ideas on top of one another. Hour 1: we were still ideating. Hour 2: there were moments of overwhelm. Then, BOOM. Hour 3: the idea came together. Then, we had to hustle to build out a shoot schedule to share with the team as the writers fleshed out the script. (PART 2, TO COME IN THE NEXT POST!) 48 Hour Film Project

4 things no one told us starting out on production, we learned along the way: 1. Read the call sheet. All the way through. Multiple times. 2. Make sure you're in the right shoes/socks. Make sure you have sunblock, bug spray, water bottles, bandaids, or anything you might end up needing. Your mama won't be there to take care of you! 3. It’s a must to wear a watch. Nobody wants to see you on your phone, even if you're just checking the time! 4. Never be late! If you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. Do you relate most to Point 1, 2, 3 or 4?? #Storytelling #ProductionCompany #MarketingandAdvertising
