Learn to harness the power of both honesty and change. The ability to be truthful with yourself and those around you about the current state is critical to developing opportunities to make things better. Change is not always easy, and not often comfortable. That said, the ability to change is incredibly important, and worth doing well using data and the honest perspective it provides. Fear and hesitation are normal responses to change. Addie, our Assistant Administrative Manager, has been with FFC for five years, with the past year dedicated to the administrative team. She plays a vital role in keeping the department running smoothly by working directly with staff on credit bureau reporting and dispute issues, implementing new and updated policies and procedures, and driving process improvements to enhance overall efficiency. 📌 What advice would you give to your younger self about pursuing a career in your field? Make sure that you familiarize yourself with all aspects of whatever career you decide to go with and learn to use your resources. You don’t always have to know the answer, but if you know where to find it your life will be so much easier! 📌What are one or two things in your career field that you love most or find the most rewarding? The most rewarding thing about being in management is the opportunity to help my team members to learn and be successful. Being in contact with people who have worked for me in the past, who have grown into new and advanced roles and are killing it is one of the best feelings in the world. 📌What is one of the biggest challenges you've faced and how did you overcome it? One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is learning to balance work and home life, it’s still a daily struggle that I have to actively work for. At FFC, everyone makes sure that we can have that balance and actually encourages it which isn’t something you see very often. You might remember Andrea from our Diverse Voices series. Not only is she proud of her heritage, but she is also a dedicated leader of our Customer Service, Collections, and Bilingual Teams. She works closely with other managers and staff to ensure our FFC customers have the best possible experience. 📌What advice would you give to your younger self about pursuing a career in your field? The advice I was given by my parents, that is still true with myself today, is that my only competition is with myself. Everyone has a different timeline, and that is okay! I entered this field with no previous experience, and there were some challenging days when I felt my knowledge base and experience was not as strong as others. I chose to redirect my focus to remain open to feedback, to absorb as much as I possibly could, I researched questions I did not know, and always tried to be better than the day before - it just takes time. I have also learned that everyone starts somewhere, and that our different backgrounds, experiences, and knowledge make a strong team! 📌What is one or two things in your career field that you love most or find the most rewarding? Everybody’s contribution is incredibly important in the company’s goals and mission statements. I am proud to be a part of fostering team collaboration, encouraging new ideas, and cheering on the team when achieving key wins. In my career, we have had many accomplishments, but it definitely takes a village! I enjoy the team camaraderie and love to see the success of others!
