About us
Foundation for a College Education’s mission is to increase the number of students of color from East Palo Alto and surrounding communities who graduate with a degree from a four-year college or university. FCE accomplishes its mission by providing free, comprehensive college access and retention services to its students and their families. FCE has a larger vision, which is to create a community where higher education is attainable. By engaging students and parents in our work, we foster the development of a community of learners who are equipped with the right tools, resources, and information to succeed. Our families play a pivotal role in sharing information with other families, thus catalyzing change in East Palo Alto and surrounding communities.

We recently enjoyed our Fall NorCal College Tour where we visited UC Santa Cruz and CSU Monterey Bay. We’d like to thank Eli Castillo, our CS student at UC Santa Cruz, who gave us a tour and answered questions for our College Bound students. We also want to thank Arlena Onukaegbe for showing us around CSU Monterey Bay and sharing your experience and knowledge with us.

FCE October Student Spotlight: Marcia! Marcia is a College Bound senior. Before joining FCE, she felt behind her peers in the college preparation process. With the support from being in the program, she quickly gained more knowledge and confidence. "FCE eased my stress dramatically by offering a place to lean on for guidance." She is proud to have been accepted into the Stanford Summer Medical Youth Science Program, which exposed her to careers in medicine through hands-on experiences at Stanford Hospital. Marcia is excited to attend college next year and aspires to become a pediatric neurologist. Determined to improve the healthcare system for future generations, FCE is thrilled to support her as she continues to reach for her dreams!
