The $74 Million Cornhill Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative took another step forward by adding signage around the future home of the West Street Impact Center. This site is where the Mid-Utica Neighborhood Preservation Corporation (MUNPC), or Leisure Time Activity Center, building existed before it was demolished in May of 2024. The West Street Impact Center will serve as one of two anchors for this community’s historic transformation.

The 3rd annual Mohawk Valley Gives, a 24-hour community-wide giving day to benefit nonprofit organizations serving the Mohawk Valley, will take place on September 20, 2024. The United Way of the Mohawk Valley has been a key partner in raising and distributing funds from the Rome, NY Emergency Response Fund to Romans impacted by the July 16th tornado. Their $30,000+ donation, pooled with others, has been able to help hundreds of individuals with recovery efforts during this unprecedented time. The Hero Fund America Fund at the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties recently awarded over $20,000 to 17 first-responder organizations across the United States. The fund annually seeks to help meet the education, training, lifesaving equipment and mental health needs of fire, emergency medical services (EMS), and law enforcement agencies. Nonprofit organizations in the two counties supporting older adult services and programs that promote healthy lifestyles and access to community resources are encouraged to apply now through Monday, September 30, 2024. The Salvation Army of Utica is dedicated to its mission of meeting human need by providing emergency and supportive assistance programs for the most vulnerable. In the last year, more than 28,000 meals were provided to those in need through its emergency food pantry and soup kitchen.
