SMU wide receiver Roderick Daniels Jr. follows Rashee Rice’s lead in planting the #SMU midfield flag at an opponent’s home turf. This feat comes after the SMU Mustangs pulled off an incredible upset last Saturday, winning against the defending AAC champion Tulane Green Wave with 26-14! The victory gives SMU Mustangs their first conference title since winning the Southwest Conference in 1984. What a great ending to a phenomenal championship conference! SMU Mustangs pulled off plays that limited the competition’s offense and secured the yards and completions to clinch the AAC title. Despite being tasked with filling in for injured Preston Stone, quarterback Kevin Jennings rose to the challenge. And Roderick certainly did not disappoint, working with Jennings and others to set the tone for the rest of the game. Where Roderick stands in the video is where Rashee Rice, the now wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, stood a couple years ago after their win against TCU. Roderick’s versality in mind and movement and infectious football spirit mirrors his former teammate’s and are big reasons why The Fields Companies signed him to an NIL agreement earlier this year. Their comradery transformed this sponsorship into a special passing of the torch that we hold in high regard. This season, Roderick has really come into his own, and we’re looking forward to seeing more from him as the rest of the season plays out.
