Today, we mourn the loss of our dear friend, Bruce Amsterdam. Bruce was more than just a beloved figure in the transportation community; he was a guiding light of kindness, integrity, and dedication. Throughout his remarkable 21-year career with Freedman Seating, Bruce not only earned the title of the hardest working man in the bus seat business, but he also became a trusted ally to countless customers, ensuring that no question went unanswered and no concern overlooked. His commitment to service was matched only by his gentle spirit. Bruce had a unique ability to connect with everyone he met, leaving an impression that went far beyond business. As a mentor, he shaped the careers of many, fostering a culture of support and growth that will resonate for years to come. His legacy is one of compassion and diligence. Bruce will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and laughter will continue to inspire all of us who had the privilege to know him. In lieu of flowers, donations to Little City Foundation, 1760 W. Algonquin Rd., Palatine, IL 60067 www.littlecity.org would be appreciated. Obituary and service information: https://lnkd.in/ggGR28fr

Freedman Seating Company reposted this
This past week we've expanded our partnership with Chicago Public Schools to expose not only students to career opportunities in manufacturing, but educators as well. We're incredibly appreciative of WaterSaver Faucet Co., Freedman Seating Company, and NanoGraf Corporation for hosting tours of their workplace this week. It's important for the workforce of tomorrow to understand that knowledge work isn't the only option lying ahead - Learning the skills and abilities to build a career in the trades are not only necessary for a healthy economy - they're also empowering on an individual level. Shout out to Tana Francellno and Joanna Madigan, World Business Chicago's Workforce Development team for making the Chicago workplace tours possible. Thank you once again to IMEC Illinois, Greater West Town Project, Manufacturing Renaissance, City Colleges of Chicago-Wilbur Wright College, Skills for Chicagoland's Future, Chicago Women in Trades, and JARC Training for partnering with us in these initiatives - providing positive pathways for Chicago's youth into the incredibly diverse field of manufacturing. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our Chairman, Gerald “Jerry” Freedman. He left us peacefully, surrounded by those he loved. Jerry was a remarkable leader who inspired our core values of integrity, community, pride and ownership. His unwavering commitment to these principles shaped not only our company but also the lives of those who had the privilege to work with him. He believed that our work makes a difference, and under his guidance, we achieved remarkable milestones. Over the course of more than 65 years with the company, Jerry revitalized the family legacy, creating a welcoming environment for both customers and employees. His ingenuity and unwavering commitment inspired all who worked with him, fostering a sense of unity and purpose that resonated throughout the company. As an Engineer, President, CEO, and Chairman, Jerry developed new products and patented technologies that would lay a foundation for Freedman Seating to become North America’s leading supplier of passenger seating solutions into the next generation. The Freedman and Cohen Families and everyone at Freedman Seating Company truly appreciates your thoughts and condolences. https://lnkd.in/ghwWbKwN In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
