The recent announcements of the Quantum Campus on the South Side and the United Center redevelopment on the West Side mark a significant milestone for inclusive and equitable economic development in our city. These transformative projects are a testament to the strategic vision and collaboration led by Mayor Brandon Johnson, the city of Chicago, World Business Chicago, and other economic development stakeholders. This strategy will bring new jobs, amenities, and opportunities to the South and West sides of Chicago and inspire other investments in our neighborhoods, building a brighter, more inclusive future for our city.

Reimagining economic development | Chief Strategy & Innovation Officer @ World Business Chicago, a public-private partnership
🚀 World Business Chicago is proud to join Midwest House and our partners to announce: the #Midwest Founders Exchange! ⭐️ Thank you TechChicago Week, presented by P33 Chicago and partners, for giving us the main stage for the exchange launch. World Business Chicago is a #TCW 2024 civic supporter, with Intersect Illinois. 🌎 For the past several years, World Business Chicago, Midwest House, and partners have collaborated on programming, events, initiatives which champion #Midwest startup entrepreneurs, VCs, and innovators. Our first effort was focused on increased accessiblity to several premier events: #Chicago Venture Summits by WBC, #MidwestHouse at SXSW, and more. In partnership with GET Cities, we led several #Chicago women founder delegations to new cities to connect with out-of-town investors and explore new business development opportunities in new markets. Our goals: to increase engagement across the region’s #startup ecosystem, grow relationships with corporate and VC offices across the Midwest, and build the brand of the Midwest as a destination for collaborative innovation and growth. The Midwest Founder Exchange (MFE) will focus on startup founders across five Midwestern cities: #Chicago, #Detroit, #Columbus, #Indianapolis, and #Minneapolis. ⭐️ We need to break our #Midwest modest, and show the world our Midwest best! And we believe our entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors represent our best. 👏 As always, so proud of the phenomenal work led by my rockstar World Business Chicago colleagues Nicole McCarthy and Elle Ramel, Midwest House CEO Ted Velie, and other regional partners!

World Business Chicago toasts to California-based tech company PsiQuantum investing billions in the long dormant South Works site in a quest to build the world's first commercially viable quantum computer on #Chicago’s Southside 🙌🏾 The project promises to boost Chicago as a leader in the nascent #quantumcomputing field, while revitalizing the city's Southeast Side, which has struggled economically since U.S. Steel closed its once massive plant more than 30 years ago. Hats off to our Mayor Brandon Johnson , Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle , City COO John Roberson, Deputy Mayor Kenya K. Merritt, WBC CEO Phil Clement , WBC CGO Kyle T. Schulz and everyone else that made this happen 👏🏾

Welcome to Chicago, PsiQuantum! We are thrilled to have you join our city and region's vibrant and dynamic business community, renowned for its strong network of engaged and active business leaders and companies. As you know, World Business Chicago's board of directors is comprised of CEOs representing the top 100 companies in Chicago, and we look forward to working with you to further your vision for the Quantum Campus on the city's southeast side World Business Chicago Chair, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “My administration is different. I said from the very beginning that we will invest in people, and that’s just what this does.” With a nod to other historic wins in #Chicago, Mayor Johnson took us back old-school with a reference to the world-champion Chicago Bulls: “PsiQuantum has been a tremendous partner with my administration every step of the way. Jeremy O'Brien (PSIQuantum co-founder and CEO) and I are like the Michael-Scotty combination of the ’90s.” Read more about this historic announcement: ➡ Crain's Chicago Business: https://bit.ly/4dbYwvw ➡ Chicago Tribune: https://bit.ly/4dhgz3C ➡ Chicago Sun Times: https://bit.ly/4faDOxU ➡ CoStar: https://bit.ly/3zZ5uG3 ➡ Fast Company: https://bit.ly/4faDOxU

World Business Chicago and partners convened with delegates from China and business/ civic leaders from the U.S. to present the recent and projected growth of Chicago’s blue and green economy. Our CEO Phil Clement, along with mHub CEO Haven Allen and Current Strategy Director Kalindi Parikh gave updates on how Chicago is thriving both economically and environmentally - and how our world-class industries, like manufacturing, can be augmented through the power of inclusive cross-industry innovation and collaboration. We at WBC would like to thank The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries for lending their ears and visiting our great city. And of course, thank you to The Paulson Institute for hosting and organizing such an important event for our ever-expanding global economy.
