A very positive weekend representing small businesses at Plaid Cymru's Spring Conference It was fantastic to hear Plaid Cymru's Economy spokesperson, Luke Fletcher MS, set out proposals that align with FSB's call to use the business rates system to support small businesses in order to drive prosperity and revitalise our town centres 🛍️ Specifically, he discussed using a reduced multiplier for small businesses to help SMEs thrive, allowing them to reinvest in their local supply chains, training, and jobs What do you think about these proposals? Don’t miss out, check it out now!⬇️ "It's been another busy month, with lobbying activity and events again being key features of our activity in the area. It was a real pleasure to host our ‘Being Responsible Businesses’ group for our latest event, and to hear from Ian Timbrell of Timbrell Education about how businesses can become more inclusive, and the benefits of this. Our FSB and HSBC joint networking event In Cardiff was completely sold out, and it was great to provide businesses with such a vibrant opportunity to make new contacts. Our FSB South Wales team were also delighted this month to host a national virtual FSB webinar on ‘25 Must Have’s For Your Website in 2025’. Our guest speaker at this event, Will Roberts of WebBox® Digital in Cardiff, gave a fantastic overview of key points to consider in ensuring the effectiveness of a business’s website, and feedback on the session was exceptional. Our FSB West Wales networking event, as previously, generated a real buzz in the room, and the positive energy was helped by a great session from Keith Small, of Your Success, who talked about building mental resilience and a positive mindset. From a lobbying point of view, meeting with Ben Lake, Member of Parliament for Ceredigion, allowed small businesses in the area to share their experiences and concerns. It was also good to contribute to discussions at Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Circular Economy conference, and at the Placemaking for Town Centres conference, hosted by the Design Commission for Wales. We’ve also continued to feed into various economic development groups and to make sure that the voice of small businesses heard by key decision makers. In addition to continuing our lobbying and supporting members through our ongoing services, we are looking forward to a number of activities and events over the coming month, including the Swansea City conference, our FSB South East Wales networking, Welsh Government’s Explore Export event at Cardiff City Stadium, and our FSB Swansea Area networking."
