Financial Services Professionals (FSP) is excited to announce that the Honorable Maxine Waters received FSP’s 2024 Trailblazer Award! Her distinguished service as a Member of Congress and Chair of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services has left an indelible mark on the financial services industry. We celebrated her remarkable and unwavering commitment to ensure fair and equitable standards in housing and finance and her outsized contributions to advancing diversity and inclusion in the financial services industry. She is a fierce advocate for marginalized, and underrepresented communities. She offered inspiring remarks reminding us of how important it is to have diverse voices in the room where important decisions impacting our financial wellbeing are being made. We were honored to have special guests attend the awards ceremony, including Rep. Financial Services Professionals (FSP) salutes the historic appointment of Ms. Laphonza Butler to serve out the term of the late Senator Dianne Feinstein. Senator Butler's appointment by California Governor Gavin Newsom immediately enhances the diversity of a body that had no representation from Black women. She is the third Black woman to serve in the history of the U.S. Senate and is the second openly gay woman in the Senate. Senator Butler brings a wealth of experience, most recently as head of EMILY's List, a political action committee that helps elect Democratic women. Previously, she led SEIU Local 2015, the largest union representing nursing and home health care workers. We look forward to Senator Butler adding her voice to the important policy debates in Congress that impact our community, our nation, and our world. #Senate #Swearingin #History #DEI #Democrat #policy
