Next week, on October 8, National Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Day will be recognized for the 10th year in a row. And we kick off the week in advance of that day by celebrating Tony Leo who retires today as Chief Technology Officer of FuelCell Energy following 46 years with the company. As the world actively adopts hydrogen energy as a key solution for decarbonization, FuelCell Energy is proud to be at the forefront of this transition thanks to the inquisitive, problem-solving approach to the technology by people like Tony. He was pivotal in the development of the Tri-gen system that is being used by Toyota North America at the Port of Long Beach, the first system in the world to use directed biogas to produce renewable electricity, hydrogen, and usable water. Tony also played a huge role in our work with ExxonMobil to build a pilot plant in Rotterdam, testing our joint carbonate fuel cell technology for CO2 capture. FuelCell Energy and the fuel cell industry would not be where they are today without him. Thank you, Tony! You can read about Tony's start in the industry and his path in the article linked here. #HydrogenFuture #CleanEnergy #NationalHydrogenDay #MakeitHere #1.008

Thank you to EDF (UK) for joining FuelCell Energy in presenting at the upcoming World Hydrogen Congress 2024! It will be a pleasure highlight the disruptive efficiency that our solid oxide electrolyzer (SOEC) technology can achieve when integrated with the continuous power and heat sources of nuclear power plants. FuelCell Energy’s SOEC technology needs only 37 kWh of electricity to generate 1 kg of hydrogen when a source of steam heat is available from a neighbouring facility such as a nuclear power, chemical (ammonia or refinery) or industrial plant. To learn more, come and talk to our team in Copenhagen at booth D620, 1-2, Oct: @RobinDudley, @KentMcCord and @AndreaMiserocchi #WHW

FuelCell Energy was honored to have been the first stop on Connecticut Green Bank's Clean Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Manufacturing Tour. It was exciting to host so many experts dedicated to advancing clean technologies in CT. In Torrington, CT, FuelCell Energy manufactures proprietary molten carbonate fuel cells that provide distributed power for homes and businesses worldwide. These fuel cells serve as the cornerstone of our Tri-gen facility in Long Beach, convert biofuel into electricity at numerous wastewater treatment plants and will soon produce purified CO2 for the food and beverage industry. The nearly complete demonstration of this technology was the last stop on the facility tour. We look forward to further discussion about clean energy in Connecticut at next week’s Sustainable Clean Energy Summit at UConn Research in which FuelCell Energy is participating. #CleanEnergy #ConnecticutCleanEnergy #HydrogenRoadmap #HydrogenFuture #CleanEnergy #NationalHydrogenDay #MakeitHere #1.008 #sustainability, #cleanenergysummit

Carbon capture and storage #CCS could play an essential role in lowering GHG emissions from industrial sites. This technology is one of the few scalable options available today for energy-intensive industries to reduce their CO2 emissions at the exhausts of industrial plants. But what if there was a technology that could capture CO2 more efficiently, and at a lower cost? ExxonMobil has been working with FuelCell Energy to develop such a technology: carbonate fuel cells, or CFCs. CFCs show great potential to capture CO2 through a more efficient process that also generates low-carbon power, heat and hydrogen as by-products. Pending a successful pilot in Rotterdam, CFC technology could then be used at other manufacturing sites around the world. Find out how it works: https://lnkd.in/ex6j84mF ExxonMobil Benelux
