This is Cari's story: a 51-year-old mom of 4 from Jacksonville, FL. A former Joffrey Ballet soloist and e-commerce entrepreneur, Cari was fit and health-focused. In November 2023, her daughter urged her to join Function Health. By December, Cari had completed 100+ lab tests, including the Galleri by Grail test to detect over 50 types of cancer. The Function Clinical Team called with life-changing news: asymptomatic ovarian cancer was detected by the Galleri test. Shocked but empowered, Cari underwent ultrasounds confirming a Stage 3B Ovarian Cancer diagnosis. By January 2024, she had built a team of doctors and a treatment plan to tackle the cancer head-on, with Function supporting her every step of the way. While she fights, she’s spreading the word. Cari's message is clear: testing gives you power. The earlier you test, the more control you have over your future. Read thousands of stories like this from real members at https://lnkd.in/eAB-3Wa3

Global male testosterone levels are declining, likely due to poor diets & sedentary bodies. It is now common for 30-year-olds to have testosterone levels akin to a typical 90-year-old. While menopause onset is swift, males have progressive drops in testosterone as they age called andropause. Accelerated or early andropause may be mistaken for other conditions with symptoms like depression, fatigue, low libido & muscle loss. Yet, simple tests can look at testosterone, and remedies—especially diet—can rebalance.

The thyroid acts as a gas pedal for your body, controlling energy and metabolism. TSH acts like the foot on the gas pedal. Low TSH can signify hyperthyroidism, setting your heart racing and nerves on edge. When TSH is high, hypothyroidism follows, with lethargy, weight gain, and mental fog as its companions. Ignoring TSH’s hints risks compounding issues and emotional roller coasters. But TSH levels naturally change based on the season — so it should be tested frequently and combined with other thyroid markers like free T4, free T3, and antibodies.

20 million Americans have some form of thyroid disease but 50% go undiagnosed. It doesn’t have to be this way. Early and advanced lab testing can detect thyroid imbalances, even before symptoms manifest. An overactive thyroid can cause irritability, nervousness, muscle weakness, weight loss, sleep issues, and vision problems. An underactive thyroid can cause fatigue, depression, forgetfulness, and weight gain. But advanced thyroid testing simply isn't a part of the typical annual physical. And even if you push to get a thyroid panel, it often won't include Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb) or Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPO). To get to the root, don't settle.

More than half of daily calories come from ultra-processed foods in America. The possible health ramifications of consuming these foods are significant, affecting everything from heart health to hormone balance. Consuming an ultra-processed diet may: - Increase the risk of heart disease - Disrupt male and female fertility - Weaken the immune system - Contribute to metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes - Lead to nutrient deficiencies - Trigger weight gain But the reality is that processed foods tend to be cheap, convenient, and easily accessed. Instead of blaming yourself, focus on doing the best you can with what you have access to. Here’s how: - Look for opportunities to incorporate more whole foods into your diet. - Test your biomarkers to identify which internal systems need support. - Make small, targeted changes to your nutrition that ladder up to big changes in your health over time.
