The Future is 𝕍𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕒𝕘𝕖 🔮♾️♻️ History has a way of repeating itself, and nowhere is this more evident than in fashion, culture, art, music and design. The Future is Vintage: the trends of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s are making a comeback, showing us that while we think we're original, we're often reinventing the past. Sure, technology evolves—but as we look to the future, let’s remember that our past holds the key to understanding the cycles of innovation. #continuum #retrofuture #futures #80s

Why #design M I N D S E T should be in the boardroom⚡️
Why Design should be in the boardroom We asked 22 leaders of the design and creative teams at NVIDIA, frog, ECCO, Wavemaker (part of WPP), who are graduates of our Design Leaders programme, to share their perspectives on leading through design in today’s world and why they believe design is essential for driving business growth. We're excited to share their vision of how creativity can transform business and shape the future of leadership, to get you inspired to bring design into the boardroom of your company. ⚫️ 'Design leaders bring a unique perspective and skill set to the boardroom, which can drive customer-centricity, innovation, brand value, and problem-solving. Their presence can help companies stay competitive and create compelling brand experiences for their customers. Creativity is truly becoming the number one metric in the business world today.' Ankur Srivastava, Co-Founder of Aesthetic Alchemists Design Studio ⚫️ 'The successful C-suite needs a diversity of thought. And the world needs more radical, imaginative thinking to overcome some of the most pressing issues of our time. I believe both of these subjects can be supported by having more сreative leaders in the boardroom.' Lizi Hamer, Global Executive Creative Director at Octagon, Executive Creative Director at No2ndPlace ⚫️ 'Design is not just about aesthetics; it’s a holistic approach to solving complex problems.' Diana Barreto Lütgehetmann, Design Consultant ⚫️ 'Design leaders do need to be in the boardrooms to advocate for the value of design and for those who do the hard creative work and deserve far more credit than they often receive.' Melissa Wakefield, Discipline Manager — Architecture at EXP ⚫️ 'Design leaders need to be in the boardroom because design is a foundational aspect of everything that makes a business successful. Whether we are discussing a leave policy, a product, or a graphic, the way it is designed can make all the difference. We’re in such an interesting and complex moment in time that doesn’t quite look like the landscape we’re accustomed to. Old solutions are not likely to be today’s solutions. So, we need design leaders and thinkers now more than ever.'' JT Johnson, Co-Founder of The League ⚫️ 'I believe that everyone in a boardroom should be a designer as well as their other role.' Heather Schoell, Creative AI Strategist, Senior Art Director and Curator at Nvidia ⚫️ 'Design leaders must be in the boardroom and at the C-level, especially in non-tech companies, to defend a human impact and fight for an ethical approach.' The future is a continuum 🔄 We’re circling back to innovation with 3D-printed houses made from clay – blending tradition with cutting-edge technology. #innovation #future #bigideas #circularity
Researchers at ETH Zürich have developed a rapid robotic printing process for earth-based materials that eliminates the need for cement. Entire houses can be constructed using clay or excavated earth, materials that are inexpensive, widely available, and sustainable as they do not require cement. However, traditional building methods for these materials are labour-intensive, slow, and therefore costly. Researchers at ETH Zurich have developed a rapid robotic printing process for earth-based materials that eliminates the need for cement. 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 👟👟: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗩𝗘𝗝𝗔’𝘀 𝗦𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆👇 The consumer #brand VEJA is a true concept brand and game changer; VEJA is a prime example of supply chain transparency, aligning perfectly with the future of responsible brand practices and trendwatching in ethical design. ♻️✨ Instead of creating useless ads, they're openly sharing details about the sourcing and production—from organic cotton farmers in Brazil 🇧🇷 to fair trade rubber producers in the Amazon 🌳—VEJA embodies a shift toward sustainability and accountability. 🌍 In an era where consumers increasingly demand to know the origins of their products, VEJA sets a very high bar for honesty, traceability, and sustainable innovation, making it a trailblazer for brands looking to design for the future with purpose and integrity. 🚀🔍 #supplychain #design #ethics #dna #b2c

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻🗝. While our problems appear to be the enemy, they are really our secret allies, and by wrestling with them, we become whole. Our problems have not been randomly inflicted on us; they have a purpose, to act as guideposts pointing the way toward healing and wholeness. - Carl Jung (free translation) #designthinking #empathy #complexity #society #growth
