The term “succession planning” is enough to bring a glaze of procrastination to even the most forward-thinking leader’s brain. Just staying on top of current work is hard enough. Thinking far into the future is exhausting. Yet, CEO succession planning is critical—and for many companies, succession planning should be applied to all C-level roles. This typically means identifying raw talent from the internal talent marketplace and cultivating it to positions of greatness. As a recruiter, of course, I don’t benefit from companies that build internal succession plans. Yet, I do support them. More directly, I support filling the roles left vacant when succession plans succeed. If you have an open role in your organization, reach out today. I have 28+ years of experience as a recruiter and can help land the talent to support and magnify your succession planning efforts. #successionplanning #HRbestpractice #usearecruiter

Experiangst is that feeling that you’ve just spent a lot of money on something and have nothing to show for it but mediocre memories. Yes, the Taylor Swift concert with your teenage daughter was incredible. But was it thousands-of-dollars-including-a-trip-to-Europe incredible? Similarly, you may have experiangst about a recent job interview. You thought you were prepared. You did your due diligence. But thinking back, it feels… deflating. Job interviews may be free, but they’re very expensive to your career if they don’t go well. Don’t let this happen again. Working with a recruiter is an excellent way to ensure you are properly prepared for interviews and set up with opportunities that are worth your time in the first place. I have 28+ years of experience matching people with promising roles and ensuring that interviews are the right fit. I will meet with you in advance to make sure you know exactly what to expect, who will be interviewing you, and what you need to know. If you want to start working together, get in touch. #howtogethired #usearecruiter

Employee leave used to be simple. You had vacation time, and that was that. But the different kinds of PTO available now are quite complex. Companies today offer options like: - Maternity leave for birthing mothers, which is mandated differently in various states - Bonding leave, also known as parental leave, which gives both parents the ability to take time off after a birth, adoption, or foster care placement - Paid family leave for employees who need to take time off work to tend to their own or a family member’s health condition or other serious circumstances There’s more where that came from, too. And with regulatory leave requirements constantly changing and growing, HR teams have to stay on top of many different ways and reasons employees might need extended time off. In fact, in a recent survey by the Marsh McLennan Agency, the biggest complaint HR professionals have about managing leave, in general, is trying to stay updated and compliant with state and local leave laws. As a recruiter at Gables Search Group, I translate benefits to candidates in my daily line of work. I am always curious to hear what sort of leave benefits companies in general offer. How about your company? What do your leave policies look like? #HRbestpractice
