Old Navy is proud to announce this year’s finalists for the Donald G. Fisher Award for Store Excellence: ·       Brisa Vazquez, Commerce, CA ·       Jani Quintero, Miami, FL ·       Kate McDonough, Plattsburgh, NY ·       Mimi Gabrehiwet, Halton Hills, ON ·       Nelly Valles, Mercedes, TX   The Fisher Award recognizes General Managers from each brand who demonstrate co-founder Don Fisher’s passion for creating an exceptional store experience for our customers and delivering business results. It is the highest honor a General Manager can receive.   The five finalists were flown to San Francisco, where brand leaders and business partners hosted them at our Gap Inc. 2 Folsom Headquarters to celebrate their nominations! “These five leaders bring Don Fisher’s passion for creating an exceptional experience to life in their stores every day” says Steve Peters, Head of Old Navy Stores and Store Operations. “I’m inspired by how they run their stores and am proud of how they bring Old Navy to their customers.” Watch for more information on each of the finalists over the next few weeks, leading up to when the Fisher Award winner is announced at the Old Navy Field Leadership Conference in Orlando in September.

Old Navy is in the middle of Back to School, but we’ve always got our eye on the future, in more ways than one! Store teams are busy hosting ON the Job events, which are job shadowing opportunities for youth interested in our This Way ONward program. These events help “school” the youth in what it’s like to work in a store – everything from working at the cash wrap, to working in the fitting room, to putting together outfits. They even practice valuable skills with mock interviews so they can get an A+ when it’s time for them to apply for a job. Old Navy has been proud to host ON the Job events for the past 25 years – and during that time, 150,000 youths have gotten a glimpse into what it’s like to work in retail. Check out a few pictures from the ON the Job events in our Orlando, FL market, where the local General Managers helped the groups learn about all things Old Navy.

Old Navy has a long history of supporting young people in the communities we serve. Championing those efforts is Steve Peters, Head of Stores and Store Operations, who serves as the Executive Sponsor of This Way ONward - Old Navy's program that helps bridge the opportunity gap.   Steve recently joined a panel discussion at Jobs for the Future (JFF)’s Impact Employer Summit in Washington, DC, about creating economic opportunity in today’s labor market.   “It was incredible to be in front of a cross-section of leaders from so many different companies who all wanted to hear how Old Navy – and Gap Inc. – are making opportunity hiring programs come to life for frontline workers. I talked about how programs like This Way ONward have shared value, with participants getting job training, mentorship and work experience, and our company filling talent needs while improving employee engagement and retention. These programs help advance economic opportunities in our communities, which is also important to our customers as the want to do business with companies that play a positive role in society.” -Steve Peters

As the impact of our This Way ONward program continues to grow, we're proud that Gap Inc. is recognized on the The American Opportunity Index’s 2024 Best Places for High School Graduates to Start a Career list! Part of Gap Inc.'s efforts to bridge the opportunity gap, This Way ONward is Old Navy's career rocket ship, providing both a way in and a way up for youth - and our data shows that participants exhibit longer job tenures and higher engagement scores than their peers at Old Navy.   We know that first jobs can be challenging! With a focus on economically marginalized, early-career talent aged 16 to 24, This Way ONward paves pathways to employment and financial stability through skills training, wraparound support, mentorship, and work experience.    #GapInc   https://lnkd.in/ggBS5bDg

Not only is it our 30th birthday year as a brand - this year also marks the 30th iteration of our iconic flag tees! A patriotic style choice for some, a long-standing family matching tradition for others, Old Navy Flag Tees offer a summer slice of Americana nostalgia year over year. We launched the inaugural flag tee in 1994, and the rest is history. Check out photos of the original 1994 design and this year's edition worn by employees at HQ! Belonging – on our own terms – is key to bridging gaps. From pronouns and style choices to corporate values and community activism, showing up in the world with the power of individual authenticity creates a stronger collective. And at Gap Inc., that means inclusion for all remains central to every way we show up as a company. Old Navy's retail experience is all about bringing joy and magic to our customers each day, and our employees embody these same qualities behind the scenes. After all – what's work without some play? For Pride month this year we wanted to put the spotlight on the people that bring Old Navy to life and joined some team members for an epic photoshoot and a peek into how they celebrate (and style!) Pride – including what sparks joy and infuses everyday magic. Click through for some highlights and visit the link below for the full story! #GapInc #PrideMonth https://lnkd.in/gimdwYut

Leave it to the Denim Divas to help us close out Pride month in style. This week, we hosted a live drag show at our San Francisco headquarters featuring our very own employee drag troupe. The Haus of Denim Divas represents the best of who we are when we create space for authentic self-expression. #GapInc #PrideMonth
