A great session this morning discussing Paid Family Leave with Erin Choquette, Umberto Speranza and Senator Matthea Daughtry - followed by a presentation of "Mega-trends" with the dynamic Derek Thompson - and then a discussion about the latest trends in disability claims management with Andrew Gibson, Orla Nixon and Christen White. The afternoon was a chance to relax, socialize and enjoy one of our fun activities - kayaking, bike-and-brews, a walking tour of Portland, a trolley tour of Portland, a round of golf or a cruise on the harbor. Economic news has been mostly positive lately. It's looking more and more like we stuck the "soft landing" with inflation, interest rates and GDP. If so, it would be an incredible achievement by the Fed. But... are we in trouble with jobs? This headline from The Wall Street Journal would make you think so - but I think it's really that we're back to just a "strong" job market instead of crazy-good-for-workers job market. And as good as it is for workers to have lots of options (new jobs and raises), it can have negative consequences like inflation. What do you think? Is the job market weakening? Too weak?
