I’m the new Associate at Geek Ventures!
Writing this feels surreal; as it’s notoriously hard to secure a full-time VC role when you don’t fit the traditional VC mold.
Over the past few years, I’ve chronicled this journey; sharing how I built my network from scratch and secured various startup and VC roles with no parental connections, family wealth, investment banking background, or Ivy League finance degree.
I’ve met with founders, VCs, service providers, students, aspiring VCs, LPs, and ecosystem builders, who’ve all played a key part in this journey.
Whether it was taking a meeting with me, sharing resources, making introductions, sending over investment opportunities, interacting with my posts, and/or providing me with invaluable career advice, I’m beyond grateful for every one of you. You’ve all contributed to my VC journey.
Your support, along with my passion and commitment to supporting underrepresented founders, kept me going through all of the sacrifices I’ve made, the tears I’ve shed, and the countless late nights and weekends I’ve worked through.
Whether you’re an underrepresented founder raising capital, an aspiring VC with a non-traditional background, or a professional who’s looking to pivot in their career, I want my story to show that with a strong work ethic, a supportive community, and an insane amount of perseverance, you can find your dream role.
Thank you again to each and every person in my startup and VC community, my caring boyfriend, my friends, and my family, for making this possible.
This is just the beginning, and I hope to start seeing more individuals with non-traditional backgrounds in VC.
I cannot wait to work with the Geek Ventures team (Ihar Mahaniok, Vadim Rogovskiy 🇺🇦, Alexander Zemlyak, Maksym Strukov, and Mariya Vasylyeva), and drive equal opportunity for visionary immigrant founders through capital and connections!
