    Bringing people together at Base

Literally no one will read this because it's a Friday afternoon, but whatever. I'm still gonna ask..... ✍️ I'm going to hire an intern to work with me in Austin. They'll exclusively be working with me on our newsletter and written communications. (obviously will be paid) Great writing skills is a must. Someone who reads....a lot, is a plus. If you know anyone who would be interested in something like this, let me know!

Thank you to everyone who attended the Building Unicorns with Purpose event that we hosted together with A-Players on October 16th in New York! This curated event of 100 highly selected founders and investors featured networking opportunities, along with a panel of outstanding speakers: • James Peyer, PhD, Founder & CEO at Cambrian Bio: biotech specialist, has spent his entire life dedicated to the mission of finding ways of preventing people from getting diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s; in the past: Founder and Managing Partner of Apollo Ventures, the first global longevity-focused venture capital firm. • Bradley Kam, CEO of Seven Figure Club: a serial entrepreneur who co-founded a unicorn company (Unstoppable Domains) and led a YC alum company (Talkable). Passionate about empowering others, he focuses on creating transformative solutions that drive meaningful change. While building successful businesses, Brad has always prioritized making a positive impact, inspiring fellow founders to embrace their potential and cultivate a lasting legacy. Moderated by Lesya Arnold, founder of A-Players, our speakers shared how they have built large successful companies while prioritizing impact. We couldn’t have hosted this event without the help of A-Players, EisnerAmper, Koop, and Rho, and are looking forward to hosting more events like these! #VentureCapital #Startups #Founders #EarlyStage #NewYork

    Defense Tech | MITS Capital

Had the opportunity to attend a great event on Building Unicorns with Purpose organized by Geek Ventures and A-Players last week in NYC. Some key takeaways: • Storytelling vs Real Impact: It’s all about knowing where to focus for true impact. • Fundraising Insight from Bradley Kam: Never approach it with the mindset of "wanting money." It puts you in a weaker position. Instead, find triggers like a successful demo day that spark interest. It’s less about metrics and more about how investors feel about you. • Hiring Lessons: Be mindful when building your team. Having a Head of HR early on might not be the best way to shape culture—it should come from the CEO. Loved the panel discussions and networking opportunities! It was great to see a few defense tech innovators building impactful solutions, a key focus for the team at MITS Capital. #Fundraising #ImpactDriven #DefenseTech

Happy to share that Geek Ventures & A-Players are hosting an amazing Founders & Investors event next Wednesday in NYC! Last time Geek and A-Players co-organized an event in February and it was such a success that we were itching to do something together again. So we have been cooking this event for a month and are ready to reveal it now! While we're talking about it publicly, it is still very limited - we have just 100 spots and we're going to include the best founders & investors. We're especially focused on top Seed / Series A founders. We're hosting an amazing panel moderated by Lesya Arnold, with amazing founders James Peyer, PhD and Bradley Kam sharing how they have built large successful companies while prioritizing impact. Associate @ Geek Ventures

I’m the new Associate at Geek Ventures! Writing this feels surreal; as it’s notoriously hard to secure a full-time VC role when you don’t fit the traditional VC mold. Over the past few years, I’ve chronicled this journey; sharing how I built my network from scratch and secured various startup and VC roles with no parental connections, family wealth, investment banking background, or Ivy League finance degree. I’ve met with founders, VCs, service providers, students, aspiring VCs, LPs, and ecosystem builders, who’ve all played a key part in this journey. Whether it was taking a meeting with me, sharing resources, making introductions, sending over investment opportunities, interacting with my posts, and/or providing me with invaluable career advice, I’m beyond grateful for every one of you. You’ve all contributed to my VC journey. Your support, along with my passion and commitment to supporting underrepresented founders, kept me going through all of the sacrifices I’ve made, the tears I’ve shed, and the countless late nights and weekends I’ve worked through. Whether you’re an underrepresented founder raising capital, an aspiring VC with a non-traditional background, or a professional who’s looking to pivot in their career, I want my story to show that with a strong work ethic, a supportive community, and an insane amount of perseverance, you can find your dream role. Thank you again to each and every person in my startup and VC community, my caring boyfriend, my friends, and my family, for making this possible. This is just the beginning, and I hope to start seeing more individuals with non-traditional backgrounds in VC. I cannot wait to work with the Geek Ventures team (Ihar Mahaniok, Vadim Rogovskiy 🇺🇦, Alexander Zemlyak, Maksym Strukov, and Mariya Vasylyeva), and drive equal opportunity for visionary immigrant founders through capital and connections! #VentureCapital #Startups #Founders #EarlyStage #Community

I'm so excited that we at Geek Ventures invested in mbue - a perfect example of a type of company we're looking for. 1. Vertical AI for a huge market that is underserved by modern technology - architecture and construction. 2. Amazing CEO, immigrant from Peru, Jean Pierre Trou, who knows the market and customers extremely well - he has led an architectural design firm for 15 years, with top results. True architectural geek! 3. Strong technical moat thanks to a highly experienced CTO Dave DeCaprio - 30 years of engineering experience, significant part of it in AI, leading sizeable engineering teams. 4. Positive impact on society: construction industry is highly inefficient, and we're in a housing crisis. Improving efficiency of construction, shortening the time needed for architectural review, contributes to the resolution of this crisis. Looking forward to more to come from Austin-based mbue!
