Providing grants to Black-owned businesses in KC | Reducing the racial wealth gap | If 15,000 people donated $10/month

About us

Generating Income for Tomorrow is a movement dedicated to cementing a better future for all. Founded in 2020, we have fought for impactful change for families, our communities and our city. Our goal is to provide grants to Black-owned businesses in Kansas City, with a specific interest in businesses that operate in low income areas. We believe this will create more jobs and potentially convert an economically disadvantaged area into an area of economic opportunity. We aim to assist in creating generational wealth, while also reducing instances of poverty related crime and violence in our communities. We strive to be an actionable step after all the protests have ended, and to educate and empower others to take action. Please consider donating $10/month to help fight racism in Kansas City. If 15,000 people donated $10/month.

  • We’ve lived and worked in Kansas City’s Black communities, and we know the strength and ingenuity we all bring to the table every day. But we also know the challenges—systemic barriers that make it harder for us to succeed and build the futures we deserve. The numbers tell a powerful story: If our Black-owned businesses received the support they deserve, we could create 7 million new jobs and inject $733 billion into our economy. This isn’t just about statistics—this is about transforming our neighborhoods. More jobs mean more opportunities for our families, safer streets, and stronger communities where everyone can thrive. When we support Black businesses, we’re investing in our own future. We’re breaking the cycle of poverty, reducing crime, and creating a foundation for future generations. Kansas City, this is our call to action. We have the power to make a difference. Let’s learn more, stand together, and create lasting change. Let’s build a future where our success is celebrated, and our communities thrive. Together, we can—and will—make a difference. #BlackEntrepreneurs #KansasCityStrong #CommunityFirst Sources: Lendio, Atlanta Tribune, Brookings Institute

When you support a Black-owned business in KC, you’re doing more than just spending money—you’re fueling a movement that has deep roots in our community. We've seen firsthand how these businesses breathe life into our neighborhoods. They’re not just creating jobs; they’re creating opportunities where there were none. They’re turning dreams into realities for families who’ve been overlooked for far too long. When a Black-owned business thrives, it ripples out—hiring local people, reinvesting in the neighborhood, and bringing pride to the community. The data doesn’t lie: nearly 50% of the revenue from these businesses stays right here in KC, compared to just 14% from big chain stores. That means more money in the hands of our people, more kids seeing that they, too, can be entrepreneurs and more hope for a brighter future. But it’s not just about the dollars and cents. It’s about dignity. It’s about being able to walk down a street in our city and see Black excellence reflected back at us. It’s about transforming areas that have been neglected and making them places of opportunity and growth. When Black businesses succeed, they challenge the systemic barriers that have held us back for so long. They show what’s possible when we’re given a fair shot. And this isn’t just a win for Black communities—it’s a win for all of Kansas City. A stronger, more inclusive economy benefits everyone. It creates a more vibrant, diverse city where everyone has a chance to thrive. So when you choose to support a Black-owned business, you’re choosing to invest in a stronger, more united Kansas City. Let’s keep pushing forward together. #SupportBlackBusiness #OurKC #CommunityFirst African American News and Issues KCUR

What are our past grant recipients up to? Oh nothing just being phenomenal. @elainapaige and the @thenextpaigeagency @nextpaigefoundation was our first $50,000 grant recipient, her goal was to open up a talent agency on the east side of Troost to give people in the Midwest an opportunity to make it in the entertainment industry and thats exactly what she's done. With partnerships with the NFL, Red Bull, Royals and Max her business is thriving thanks to all of your generous contributions. Thank YOU! Kansas City heres yet another example to show you that we're doing it. #blackexcellence #kcgift #donationsmatter

  • We want to hear from you! Entrepreneurship comes with its own unique set of challenges but that doesn’t mean that our challenges are all the same. What challenges are you dealing with as an entrepreneur and what do you think would be different if you didn’t have to deal with that challenge?
