October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, first observed in 1981 to unite advocates nationwide in the fight to end domestic violence.💜 In Georgia, the Georgia Coalition Against Domestic Violence (GCADV) leads the charge, representing 53+ organizations that support survivors, educate the public, and advocate for change. This year’s theme, Heal, Hold, and Center, reminds us to embrace healing, hold space for survivors, and uplift those most marginalized. Together, we can make a difference. Let’s take action to end domestic violence. #DVAM #EndDomesticViolence #FultonInfo

While this certainly isn't what anyone has hoped, GCADV will have to postpone our Together We Rise Fall Event. The safety and well-being of our attendees are our top priority. With the impending arrival of Hurricane Helene, we believe it is in the best interest of everyone to reschedule our event to ensure that everyone can participate safely. We understand that this news is disappointing, and we share in your frustration. However, we are committed to coming together at a later date to celebrate our collective efforts and achievements. We will communicate the new date and any additional details as soon as possible. Our thoughts and best wishes are with our partners in the southern regions who will be most affected by this storm. We encourage everyone to stay informed and take all necessary precautions to stay safe. Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We look forward to gathering with you all soon, under safer circumstances.

NEW from our Safety Net team! On May 13, Apple and Google announced news of their furthered partnership to address unwanted location tracking. Users of Android devices 6.0 and above will soon be able to receive alerts if an item that allows for location tracking is moving with them but not paired with their phone. Stalking and the monitoring of location without consent are common tactics of abuse, and it's critical that the companies behind these devices continue working together to identify ways to improve their design and implementation to minimize the possibilities for abuse. Yesterday, Yield Giving and LeverforChange announced that our organization received a $2 million gift as one of the Yield Giving Open Call’s awardees working with people and in places experiencing the greatest need in the United States! With support from Yield Giving, we will be able to create new initiatives, strengthen our infrastructure for member programs and survivors, and build out our programs like Justice for Incarcerated Survivors and Community RISE. Our best chance at ending violence in Georgia is when domestic violence and social justice organizations partner to collectively address its root causes, including racism, misogyny, and LGBTQIA+ discrimination. Together, we can make sure that all Georgians have access to everything they need to be safe, heal, and thrive. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eg5A2Edg #YieldGiving #SocialImpact #OpenCall
