As former President Jimmy Carter’s funeral procession made its way to the Carter Center on Saturday, members of the Georgia General Assembly, along with Governor Brian Kemp, Speaker Jon Burns and other elected officials, gathered to pay their respects to the former president as the presidential motorcade paused at the State Capitol. President Carter, who served as Georgia’s 76th Governor from 1971 to 1975 and the 39th President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, remains the only Georgian ever elected to the presidency and is sure to leave a lasting legacy on both the state and the nation. #gapol #gahouse
