In this role, she strengthens external community effectiveness, leads conversations with local leaders, and champions our customers. When asked about what this award means to her, she said, “This award is special - it’s an honor to be selected as a recipient. This award recognizes influential leaders in the community. People that have made a difference, people that advocate for others, people that care. Servant leadership is so important and so necessary. My parents are my role models. They raised my sister and me to be servant leaders. They weren’t able to be here tonight but I’m so blessed and thankful that they raised me the way they did.”   Andrea’s dedication and impact in our community is inspirational. 🙌 Join us in congratulating her for this well-deserved recognition. #AAPI #AAPIHeritage #GeorgiaLeaders #CommunityImpact #Recognition #award

As Tropical Storm #Debby ends, we are thankful to our customers for their support during the storm and restoration. Our system and team performed very well, with crews restoring power to over 120,000 customers with safety, efficiency, and an incredible spirit. From our lineworkers and ground crews to our customer care team, and everyone else standing behind them at Georgia Power, thank you. When asked why they leave their homes in other parts of the state to work on restoration, the most common answer from our crews was, “it’s the right thing to do.” We couldn’t be more proud of our team—not just for their hard work, but for their positive attitude. Our CEO Kim Greene was in the field this week meeting with our teams during the response. Reflecting on the work being done, she said, “I’m incredibly proud of the work our teams did to restore service to customers impacted by Tropical Storm Debby. Our preparation, teamwork and care for each other and our customers really shined during our response.” Whether our team is facing a hurricane, a tropical storm, or the usual summer severe weather, know that we are #StormReady. . . . #GAWX #Hurricane #TropicalStorm #Storm #Weather #Lineman #Linework #Georgiapower

Tropical Storm Debby Update: From The Bucket ⛈️   In response to Tropical Storm #Debby, our dedicated crews have made remarkable progress restoring power to affected areas. South Georgia faced historic rainfall and high winds, leading to downed trees and power lines. Despite these challenges, we have successfully restored power to over 100,000 customers and will continue our efforts until everyone who can receive power is restored.   Our team's hard work, combined with our advanced Smart Grid technology, has strengthened our grid’s resilience. These enhancements allow us to efficiently isolate outages, minimize the number of affected customers, and reroute power remotely for improved reliability.   To learn more about our storm response, visit georgiapower.com/storm. #StormResponse #PowerRestoration #SmartGrid #GeorgiaPower #GAWX #Weather #Debby #Hurricane

⛈️ Severe weather update from The Team ⛈️ This weekend: As we continue monitoring the weather, we are focused on making sure our teams are in safe locations, while also being strategically positioned to respond quickly if the path of the storm changes. Our teams are fully engaged, preparing for various roles and response options, and checking their equipment and trucks. Additionally, we have access to support from the Southern Company system and our mutual assistance network if needed. What you can do to prepare: 1. Create An Emergency Supply Kit: Have a flashlight, a portable phone charger, and spare batteries on hand in case the power goes out. 2. Charge Your Devices: Charge your cell phone and other battery-powered devices. 3. Keep Freezer Doors Sealed: Frozen food will keep two or three days in a well-filled freezer. 4. Prepare your home: Identify and secure items that may become “flying projectiles” such as patio umbrellas. For more storm preparedness tips visit https://lnkd.in/e_Axwj39

In celebration of Disability Pride Month, our Employee Resource Group, ADAPPT (Alliance of Disability Advocates Pursuing Progress Together), hosted a truly inspiring event. It provided a platform for our leaders, employees with both apparent and non-apparent disabilities, and caregivers to share their personal stories. Our CEO, Kim Greene, kicked off the event with a thought-provoking discussion on Intentional Inclusivity alongside Chimaobi Chijioke, MBA. They explored what accessibility and intentional inclusion meant to them throughout their careers, leading us in a meaningful conversation about disability pride. We are immensely proud of our employees Vanessa Wagner, CDMP, John Snyder and Wren K., who shared their unique stories, highlighting how their experiences vary and emphasizing the importance of continued advocacy in the workplace. A huge thank you to everyone at ADAPPT for organizing this powerful experience. We are excited to continue celebrating all of our employees as we nurture and grow an inclusive workplace. #Inclusion #DisabilitiesInTheWorkplace #DisabilityPrideMonth

What happens when we find a bird's nest on one of our power lines? 🪺 Earlier this spring, teams working for Georgia Power were rebuilding a transmission line in Athens when they discovered a large bird nest. Recognizing it as an Osprey nest, they took action. 🪶 The foreman performed a job hazard assessment and confirmed the nest was active. He called our environment team, who guided him through federal guidelines on how to safely move the nest. 👏 Meanwhile, another part of the team installed a 65-foot wood pole 50 feet away from the lines. Note that we only relocate a nest if there is no reasonable work-around, and the relocation is performed under a federal migratory bird permit. Within the hour, the Ospreys returned and immediately took up residence at their new home! 🏡 #Osprey #Bird #Linework #lineman #sustainability #birds #GeorgiaPower #Environment #birdnest #birdlife
