Leadership coach Mark Murphy writes in Forbes that the SHER (Situation, Hurdle, Endgame, Reflection) method helps you formulate answers. Use it if asked how you handled a decision by your supervisor that you disagreed with. Murphy says to create a balanced answer. Show respect for your manager's authority, but also champion your view. Tell the interviewer that you would try to understand your boss' reasons for the decision. Then, add that you would use data to show your counterpoint. The use of self-recorded video during interviews is growing. CNBC Make It reports that companies are using platforms that record job seekers responding to a series of prompts. It's an early step in the interview process. Career advisor Gorick Ng tells Alex Koller of CNBC that interviewees should dress and focus like they would if talking to a human. After 12 interviews, Octavius Newman learned he wasn't getting the job. Newman told Business Insider that he went through individual and group interviews — often with the same people. He thought they went well, but the company decided to choose another candidate. It stung. Breaking the news to his family was difficult. The process inspired Newman to become more entrepreneurial.
