My learnings from the hardest job-hunting journey I've had in 15 years 📚 (In need of help? Check my newest post: https://shorturl.at/oyNR0) - Apply anyway. You never know. Even if you think that this company whose vision you admire would never get back to you. I got offers from big, inspiring names. 2 months ago I would have never believed it. - If you think that your skillset and experience speaks for you, show up to interviews. You'll do better than you think. Don't reject yourself. And if not, prepare better for the next one. Watch lecturers, standup comedians. Learn how to talk precisely, to give sharper answers, to be present during interviews. - Your resume can really speak for you. Follow the STAR method. Curate the keywords. Write your achievements and successes. Celebrate yourself. - When a company asks to do an unpaid 'home assignment' that takes you several days to finish, and it doesn't feel right to you, then don't do them. Your time is valuable and there are options out there who won't ask you such a lengthy amount of your time and energy. Same with your first impression. When something doesn't feel right, it's because it isn't. - You can fall into the 'job market is broken', 'in the end is about knowing someone who works in the company' fatalism, or apply anyway. I got offers from companies where I knew absolutely no one there. - Being a software engineer has been living life in 'slightly easier mode' for me until now. - Organize your job-hunting. I used Huntr and Teal. Save a wishlist, gamify the process. - The 'unfortunately, we have decided to...' automated messages can be soul-crushing, or can be a step closer to the stream of interviews that can come after. If you think that only 1% of companies out there would want you, apply to 100 companies and do get the job. - Prepare, prepare, prepare. If they ask you about SQL, or Jira, go to ChatGPT and ask "20 things I should know about XX". Become that badass who knows everything about what you are going to be asked about. - Research the company you are applying for. Understand what they are looking for, what they truly need, and show that you can do it for them. Don't feel like writing a cover letter? Fine. But make sure to show them why you are perfect for the role. - Don't sacrifice yourself in the process. Don't stop being yourself. There's a company that wants you for who you are and exactly what you can bring to the table. - If you feel in despair and your life is a rollercoaster because of the job search, go to the gym, run in the park, listen to music, play an instrument, meet friends, get discount coupons for the cinema, meditate. Recharge. - Rely heavily on your support network and/or therapy to endure this challenging time of your life. - Compete only against yourself. Become the most persistent person you know. Believe in yourself and apply anyway. - Your employed/unemployed status is not your identity. You are so much more. Remind yourself constantly.

Going through the job search can be hard on your soul. Rejection after rejection, you start to feel you're not enough. You start to believe you don't have what it takes. And slowly those thoughts become your reality. Setbacks aren't meant to break you. They're meant to push you to greater heights. So if you've been rejected for a role recently or if the job search isn't going well... Take a deep breath. Find someone to get a pep talk from. Write down a list of all the things that make you a super qualified candidate. You are one of the greatest talents out there. Your time to shine is on its way. So, keep your chin up. And be open to all the opportunities around you. Look towards your intuition on the direction you should take to level yourself up for this next chapter. Don't let your anxiety push you towards the wrong employer or down the wrong path. Use this time to rise up because you really do have what it takes. #jobsearch #motivation #waynedyer #quotestoliveby #quoteoftheday #quotes

For the past five months, we’ve been trying to reimagine Huntr to make it an even better tool for job seekers. The job landscape looks very different today than it did when we first launched Huntr six years ago. AI is often being used to screen candidates. Layoffs are more common. Some jobs get thousands of applications. We knew we needed to design a whole range of features and tools that would help job seekers find meaningful work, or even land their dream job. That’s why today, we’re excited to announce that we’re launching several new features: a resume builder, job tailored resumes, a resume grader, AI cover letters, AI email templates, and more. And we’ve still got that handy job tracker you know and love. Here’s a quick demo of some of the new features we’ve added, which are now all available on Huntr.co. #jobhunting #jobsearch #resumehelp #resumereview #tech #layoffs
