The Global Healthy Living Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for people living with chronic illnesses (such as arthritis, osteoporosis, migraine, psoriasis, and cardiovascular disease) by advocating for improved access to health care at the community, state, and federal levels, and amplifying education and awareness efforts within its social media framework. GHLF is also a staunch advocate for vaccines. The Global Healthy Living Foundation is the parent organization of CreakyJoints®, the digital arthritis community for millions of arthritis patients and caregivers worldwide who seek education, support, activism, and patient-centered research through ArthritisPower® (ArthritisPower.org), the first-ever patient-centered research registry for joint, bone, and inflammatory skin conditions, and hosts PainSpot (PainSpot.org), a digital risk assessment tool for musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. I am glad to see that the #PBM lobbyists are hard at work and that reputable individuals (you know who you are) and groups such as The Wall Street Journal Editorial Board are carrying the water for them. The latest misinformation campaign is regarding the Federal Trade Commission suing the three largest PBMs concerning insulin price inflation. Here are SOME (there are many more) excerpts where so-called unbiased patrons get it wrong: From WSJ editorial board - https://cutt.ly/AeU2RZQB "If rebates are a problem, why does Congress require them for government plans?" Wrong. Congress does not require rebate contracting. As I have mentioned multiple times, the largest insurer, Kaiser (and one of the largest MAPD plans), in the largest state in the union, DOES NOT utilize rebate contracting as a tactic. Instead, it relies on NET PRICE contracts, thus passing 100% of the value to its patients. All Congress and CMS have said is that rebates are not a form of a kickback. Important to note that the Trump administration (Alex Azar) tried to repeal that interpretation despite the best efforts of specific individuals within the administration to torpedo it. Including amateurish accounting by the Congressional Budget Office that led to inflated costs associated with the policy change. From American Action Forum - https://cutt.ly/WeU2WTSo "The reality is that the PBMs are engaged in contracts. They work for insurance companies." That is wrong. Through shoddy regulatory oversight by the Obama, Bush, and Trump administrations, regulators allowed horizontal and vertical integration on steroids. The three largest PBMs own or are owned by the three largest insurers. Hence, that firewall has long been extinguished, and there is ZERO separation between the PBM interests and the interests of the plan sponsors, aka insurers, which are one and the same. Finally, it is important to note that the FTC complaint is looking backward at what PBMs did for the past decade to fuel an increase in insulin prices and, most importantly, how their actions led to patients paying more out-of-pocket than necessary. A quick investigation of the WSJ or AAF would have uncovered that for years, the 3 PBMs refused to cover authorized generics of insulin Humalog (Lispro), which was at least 150-200% less expensive, and instead favored the brand Humalog since it provided them better rebate dollars. But, why bother with evidence when you can regurgitate the talking points of the PBM lobbyists? Global Healthy Living Foundation

It's time manufacturers bring strategically focused advocacy groups into clinical trials from the start to design better, more efficient, patient-driven protocols.
