This National Child Health Day, it’s important to acknowledge the gastrointestinal side effects that often accompany cancer treatments in pediatric patients. Nausea, vomiting, and malabsorption can severely impact a child’s ability to maintain nutritional intake, which in turn can influence treatment outcomes. Offering smaller, more frequent meals with easily digestible foods and ensuring adequate hydration can mitigate some of these symptoms. A multidisciplinary approach, including close collaboration with pediatric gastroenterologists, is key to providing comprehensive care and improving the quality of life for these patients.
