Meet the Padilla family! 👋 In the 1940s, Carlos and Mary Padilla bought five acres of land at Gilbert and Warner Roads for $2,000 from a local beekeeper. They built a life on their Gilbert ranch, raising five children, along with show cattle, horses, and plenty of pets. Carlos, a proud World War II veteran, dedicated 40 years to the Roosevelt Water Conservation District. His heart for service extended beyond his career—he helped bring the community together by organizing Gilbert Days barbecues and dances as a member of the American Legion. 🇺🇸 But the Padillas’ commitment to Gilbert didn’t stop there. They spent Saturdays volunteering at St. Anne’s Church, doing everything from cleaning to raising money for new church buildings that would open in 1971. Their legacy of service, family, and community lives on, reminding us all of the power of giving back. 💛 #HispanicHeritageMonth Photo courtesy of: HD SOUTH
