I had an AMAZING summer working as the CIT Director for Camp Ledgewood through Girl Scouts of North East Ohio !!! Every summer I have learned new skills that I can apply to my life and professional goals. Collaborating with the unit staff and administrative staff this summer to plan and deliver a CIT I and II program that I am extremely proud of was a thrill that paid off. I learned so much this summer about taking on challenges and learning to ask for help when needed, and managing burnout in the work environment as well. It's so important to take time to enjoy your work, and to step back and recognize why you started in the first place. Planning and providing a program and experience for kids in grades K-12 is always a blessing, and I'm proud to say that I've completed a fourth year on summer staff 💚

Enbridge, formerly knowns as Dominion Energy, came out to Camp Sugarbush in early September to volunteer their time to give back to our Girl Scout community. The groups used wood splicers to cut logs, transferred the pieces, and stacked all the wood for winter. Thank you to everyone who lent their time!

Thank you to volunteers from FirstEnergy for coming out to Camp Ledgewood last Wednesday. They painted latrines, cleared a large area of brush and shrubs by the lake, and beautified the welcome areas. We are so lucky to have such awesome volunteers.

We were excited this week to host Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik for a hard hat tour of the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio’s STEM Center of Excellence, which is under construction and will open next spring. GSNEO’s STEM Center of Excellence is being built inspire Girl Scouts and students - boys and girls - throughout the region to strengthen the pipeline of the emerging STEM workforce. This will enable regional employers in technology, medical, manufacturing, and other related fields to attract and retain a highly qualified workforce sourced from a local talent pool. We are thrilled to partner with the state, as well as regional and local stakeholders, on this exciting project!

Akron Community Foundation staff members recently attended the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio’s STEM Center of Excellence Hard Hat tour at Camp Ledgewood in Peninsula. The STEM Center of Excellence will provide a living laboratory for young people, offering experiences in robotics, computer coding and chemistry, among other disciplines, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Plans are to host 18,000 Girl Scouts starting next spring. Congrats to Girl Scouts of North East Ohio, a longtime ACF grantee, for creating this incredible resource for the community!
