We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, evidence-based curriculum that incorporates movement.
About us
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic, interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K running event. The goal of the program is to unleash confidence through accomplishment while establishing a lifetime appreciation of health and fitness. Girls on the Run International (GOTRI) is the parent organization of more than 200 Girls on the Run councils across the United States and Canada. GOTRI establishes, trains and supports a network of community-level councils with local volunteers. The volunteers serve as role models to the girls through coaching the 10-week, 20 lesson curricula. The curriculum is delivered in these areas through after-school programs, recreation centers and other non-profit settings. Mission: We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. Vision: We envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Today, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Ciara, one of our superstar GOTR coach alumni who has gone from GOTR practices to anchoring the news, writing for national publications, and even leading a segment on the Today Show! Ciara has always used her Star Power to inspire healthy habits that enrich people’s lives. So, when she moved to a new community for a job as a reporter and was looking for ways to get involved, Girls on the Run was a perfect fit. Visit the GOTR blog to learn more about how she applied lessons learned from practice to her own life as a professional wellness journalist and how coaching her team through their 5K Celebration inspired Ciara to take on her own running challenge: https://lnkd.in/gwc8Qd5y. #GOTRCoach #GOTRAlumni #BeyondTheFinish

The National AfterSchool Association (NAA) Convention may have wrapped, but we are still feeling the joy and connection of last week's educational event! Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, attended Katarina Corda's session on embracing mistakes, and engaged with us to learn more about our commitment to empowering today's girls. It was a pleasure to foster new connections and discuss our evidence-based programming that builds confidence, life skills, and healthy habits. We loved sharing and discovering new insights into the transformative power of after-school programming and learning from fellow attendees and presenters. Our shared passion for youth development is inspiring, and we're excited to continue this vital work—together! Did you miss us at #NAA25? Did you make a mistake this week? Instead of reeling in disappointment, look on the bright side — your brain formed a new connection! This week at the National AfterSchool Association (NAA) Convention, our Vice President of Programming, Katarina Corda, led a session called 'Oops to Awesome: Celebrate Mistakes to Unlock Potential' and discussed this very topic. Through her presentation, which incorporated elements of our evidence-based programming, she highlighted the numerous benefits of mistake-friendly environments. To start, they nurture brain growth, encourage vulnerability and collaboration, foster resilience and risk-taking, and fuel problem-solving, creativity, and innovation. We are giving Energy Awards to everyone who attended the session, embraced their mistakes, and engaged in the session's activities. Stay tuned for more updates from the NAA Convention coming soon! #NAA25
