Transforming recycled glass into lightweight, low embodied carbon building materials.
About us
Glavel, Inc. is a leader in low embodied carbon building materials. Foam glass gravel is a lightweight aggregate made from recycled glass. Materials Matter. As 2025 quickly approaches, it's time to reflect on building material choices and what we choose in design specs. A well-designed building creates a positive impact on its community, with material selection playing a role in the building's relationship with its occupants and its surrounding environment. Let's look to the future of our built environment with an emphasis on material selection, recognizing that materials matter. Materials specified in today's projects will influence the lifespan of a building, so we might as well choose materials that contribute to a low carbon future.

On Manufacturing Day we celebrate electrification. It's a key element in decarbonizing manufacturing, allowing renewable energy to replace natural gas and other fossil fuels to power operations. We take every opportunity to reduce our own manufacturing carbon footprint and aspire to help others achieve their carbon reduction goals too. Our CEO Rob Conboy loves to connect with like-minded folks who care about electrification, embodied carbon, and climate awareness. It's time to connect with him to talk shop and accelerate manufacturing's decarbonization.

Per RMI, states are putting together their climate action plans; building improvements are a top priority in nearly every state. "Buildings are the only sector to have statewide pollution reduction measures in every state plan, signaling national consensus that upgrading homes, workplaces, and schools is key to delivering meaningful health, economic, and climate benefits for all." https://lnkd.in/e-w_2bZZ

When roadways needs to be elevated but the surrounding landscape can't support the weight of gravel or the environmental cost of expanded polystyrene blocks, Glavel is there to save the day. This project in Raquette Lake NY is elevating a roadway for a bridge rehabilitation project. Seen here are the first and second lifts being placed by Tioga Construction with the NYSDOT checking in on their latest approved material.
