Getting ready to compete in the FINALS of this year’s Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) Shark Tank business competition 👏 Chief Medical Officer, Maija Cheung, be in Cleveland pitching our innovative solar-powered tech for the chance to win $30,000. For surgeons in low-resource settings where power outages can compromise life-saving care, we provide a solar surgery system that gives an immediate and primary stable power source for them to perform safe surgery. If we are fortunate enough to win - we would use those funds IMMEDIATELY to deploy a system to a partner site in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti which is desperate to continue to care for patients amidst the violence and chaos and is experiencing a high level of power outages due to the civil unrest.  This would serve as a proof of concept of our system in a conflict zone and show the impact of delivering technology that not only endures challenging conditions but becomes a reliable lifeline for those in need. We recently had the opportunity to share Global Hospital's vision with the Every Breath Counts Coalition / Oxygen Access Collaborators. This group of leaders meets every month to raise and discuss issues critical to the Lancet Global Health Commission on Medical Oxygen Security. Maija Cheung spoke to the group about our experience implementing tailored healthcare solutions in low-resource countries, including harnessing the power of solar technology to keep the lights on in healthcare facilities no matter the circumstances. Hearing positive feedback about our work and our approach to healthcare infrastructure development motivates us to continue scaling our impact! #GlobalHospital #HealthcareInnovation

If you see medical equipment being purchased or hospital renovations being carried out then someone, somewhere is making a profit. That’s money leaving the healthcare ecosystem. If that project had been delivered by Global Hospital, then 100% of profits would have gone towards the development of children’s surgical services in some of the world’s most challenging nations. Why not double your impact? If you’re working in this space, we’d love to talk to you about your projects. Reach out to us at hello@globalhospital.org to learn more about how we can support you.

Recent data paints a vivid picture of healthcare in low-resource settings—a landscape marked by challenges, but also ripe with opportunities for innovation and progress. 🏥 Hospital Infrastructure Deficiencies: A significant number of hospitals in low-resource settings lack basic infrastructure and equipment, hindering their ability to provide quality care. According to a recent report by the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 50% of health facilities in some low-income countries lack access to electricity, jeopardizing critical medical services. 🔬 Shortage of Healthcare Workers: The shortage of trained healthcare professionals further exacerbates the challenges faced by hospitals. Data from The World Bank indicates that many low-resource countries have fewer than one doctor per 1,000 people, significantly below the recommended ratio for effective healthcare delivery. [Source: ILO Global Health Workforce Statistics] 🌱 Impact on Patient Care: Insufficient hospital infrastructure and staffing levels directly impact patient care and outcomes. Recent studies have shown that delays in accessing essential medical services due to infrastructure deficiencies contribute to increased morbidity and mortality rates, particularly among vulnerable populations. We're committed to implementing successful healthcare interventions in low-resource settings. By partnering with governments, NGOs, and local communities, we build healthcare infrastructure that improves quality of care and, ultimately, saves lives. Private companies make colossal profits from healthcare. We want to keep that money in the health system and invest it back in the world’s most vulnerable population - children. Global Hospital specializes in the delivery of healthcare infrastructure (construction, biomedical engineering, and procurement), solar installation, and project management in healthcare facilities. Though we can tackle any project, we are experts at operating in low-resource settings. Unlike other companies, every penny of profit we make goes back into community investments in healthcare. We are wholly owned by KidsOR, and all profit from our work goes toward the development of children’s surgical services in some of the world’s most challenging environments. By working with us, you can double your impact without compromising on cost or quality. Learn more about Global Hospital at our website 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQYyEz3k

One need only turn on the news to be reminded of the fact that widespread power outages persist as a global challenge. These outages affect not only industries but also one of the most vulnerable sectors of society—healthcare systems. Hospitals are facing dire consequences due to unreliable power sources. Unstable power grids lead to frequent blackouts and voltage fluctuations, jeopardizing vital medical equipment such as ventilators, incubators, and life support systems. Moreover, the lack of consistent electricity disrupts routine medical procedures, delays surgeries, and compromises the storage of critical medications, putting patients' lives at risk. Amidst these challenges, solar technology is a beacon of hope. We developed our Solar Surgery system to address the crippling effects of power outages and improve patient safety in areas with unreliable or non-existent power sources. By prioritizing resilient and sustainable energy solutions, we can safeguard the well-being of patients, strengthen healthcare resilience, and build a brighter, healthier future for all.
