We conclude our recap of GlobalWIN’s 2024 Senate staff delegation trip to New York City with images from our private tour of the National September 11 Memorial/World Trade Center with Christopher Mendoza, director of government and community affairs. The 9/11 Memorial is a tribute of remembrance, honoring the 2,977 people killed in the terror attacks of September 11, 2001. It was important to our entire group to learn about the museum and honor the care that has been taken to memorialize the victims of the attacks, the first responders who jumped into action to save lives, and the countless others who demonstrated extraordinary compassion in the aftermath. We won’t tell you which GlobalWIN leaders prefer Ariana Grande to Taylor Swift, but it’s safe to say we were all very excited for Universal Music Group to host us at Republic Records’ recording studio where so many of our favorite artists have recorded the hits we love. We not only got a behind the scenes look at the recording studio, but we also had great conversations with UMG and Republic Records leaders about their artist-centric business model, the value of music intellectual property, and empowering female leadership throughout the music industry. Thanks to Zoe Briggs, Amaiya Davis, Marleny Dominguez, Carla M. Miller - Music Lawyer, and Zoë O. for a fantastic afternoon! #GlobalWINinNYC

We had a fantastic time at Mastercard’s NYC headquarters where Bunita Sawhney, EVP, consumer products & processing, hosted us for a fireside chat on female entrepreneurship and then a meet and greet with members of Mastercard’s Women’s Leadership Network to discuss the importance of female mentorship. Mentorship is always top of mind for GlobalWIN leaders because we see every day how those relationships help to stretch thinking, provide support through challenges and growth, and create a sense of community in professional settings. #GlobalWINinNYC

No matter our leaders’ titles or portfolios, strategic communications is always a critical element to professional and enterprise success. We were thrilled to continue our New York adventure with FTI Consulting, a global consultancy that focuses on proactive risk management for clients in more than 31 countries. Many thanks to Katie Smith and Virginia Smith for hosting a fantastic conversation that reminded us of the importance of lifting one another up in the workplace and investing in strong mentorship relationships. It is these professional relationships that often propel us to the next stages of our careers! #GlobalWINinNYC

GlobalWIN leaders took to New York City last week for our 2024 Senate staff delegation trip! These trips are a fantastic opportunity for our delegation to spend dedicated time together, hear from experts in their fields, and network with new friends. Most important – we have a great time together! On Monday evening, we hosted Mary Ellen Coyne, CEO of J.McLaughlin, fashion powerhouse, and mom of three children. With decades of merchandising experience at high-profile brands like Ralph Lauren and the Gap, Mary Ellen shared her experience leading J. McLaughlin’s brand strategy and development, operations, retail and e-commerce growth. Introduced by our dynamic board chair, Nicole Mortier, Mary Ellen shared a powerful insight that stuck with all of us: being intentional about lifting up the women around you has been key to her career. Thank you for joining us, Mary Ellen! Stay tuned to see more from our time in New York! #GlobalWINinNYC

Thank you to everyone who attended our latest professional development event, “Writing a Professional Bio, For LinkedIn and Beyond,” with Madeline Fetterly, CEO, Be the Brand Collective. Key takeaways included: 🚀 Start with a Strong Opening Statement: Begin with a concise statement that summarizes who you are and your role. This should immediately communicate your area of expertise and significance. 🏆 Highlight Your Key Achievements: Emphasize a few key accomplishments that demonstrate your impact, such as significant legislation you’ve influenced or key positions you’ve held. 💡 Showcase Your Expertise: Detail your specific areas of expertise. This section should highlight what sets you apart as an expert in your field. 📋 Include Relevant Experience: Describe your current role and previous relevant experiences that align with your professional narrative. This adds depth to your bio. 🧩 Add a Personal Touch: Include a sentence or two about your personal interests or what drives your passion for policy work. This adds a human element to your bio. 🎯 Call to Action or Future Goals: Conclude with a statement about your future aspirations or invite others to connect with you for collaboration. We look forward to hosting more professional development programming throughout the fall.
